Sustainable Holiday

On one hand we hope that it will all be back to normal in the summer of 2022, but on the other hand, we also hope that the corona period has made you look differently at travel. You have probably figured out that it is beautiful close to home too and you don't have to fly all over the world to have a special time. This change is not only fun, it is needed too. The tourism sector is responsible for 10% of total CO2 emissions. And if we continue like before the corona crisis, it will even be 100% in 20 or 30 years. Sustainable tourism should therefore become not just a travel trend, but the standard. 

Of course, traveling also contributes to connection, personal growth and beautiful contacts from all over the world and from different cultures. But stick to the occasional long trip and think about how it can be more sustainable when you plan your holiday for 2022. Stay close to home, plan a cycling holiday, take the train or rent an electric car from. Not only does that make your holiday a lot more sustainable, it also makes it a lot more adventurous than when the plane takes you from place A to place B.

Going Camping

In addition to this, the type of holiday determines how sustainable your holiday is too. During a holiday in a hotel or during a cruise your footprint is many times larger than when you go camping! And that is not the only thing that makes camping incredibly rewarding.

When you go camping, you are outside all day. In the morning you only have to open the tent or the door of your campervan to breathe in the fresh air. After that, you often have a day full of adventure, although, having a relaxed day reading a book is great too. In the evening you will probably stay outside for a long time too, enjoying a glass of wine around the campfire. Is it a bit of a drizzly day? Just put on your raincoat and go out. You will see getting a little bit wet, isn’t that bad afterall.

For example, choose a campsite in the mountains and let it be the starting point of many beautiful hikes. Hiking can be quite a challenge at times, but once at the top of the mountain, it is always more than worth it. The victory and the view always provide a good dose of dopamine!

Take a Holiday With Campspace

1. Romantic Farmhouse Stay

This Romantic farmhouse stay is set in rural Buckinghamshire is a super relaxed and calm campsite. You will only have pet sheep, chickens and labradors for company. The campsite is ideal for discovering the area. A few fun things are Silverstone Racecourse, Waddeston and Claydon House which are National Trust properties and a historic market town with farmers and antiques market and Old Gaol Museum. The hosts of the place are very friendly and always willing to help you with everything!

2. Ecological Camping in a Food Forest

Marieke has been transforming a poplar forest into a food forest since 2018. She has made various camping spots where you can go with your own tent or camper. There are also various glamping options. The places themselves are very basic, but very beautiful between the raspberry bushes and herbs. Water and electricity can be found at the central location. There are also two sanitary buildings. One with compost toilets and a hot and a cold shower and a more luxurious one. There is also a communal fire pit where you can grill food or chat with other guests. The campspace wants to produce as little waste as possible, so keep that in mind when you go camping here. To make it easy for you, there is a small shop where you can buy packaging-free products. An absolute must for a relaxing holiday!

3. Camping and Chalet Rosée

In Wallonia, not far from Dinant, you will find Camping and Chalet Rosée. You will be warmly welcomed here by host Luc. On its beautiful grounds you can pitch your own tent or find a spot for your campervan. You can also spend the night in his beautiful wooden chalet. From the spot you have a beautiful view over the surrounding fields and forests. It is also the perfect starting point for various walks. In addition, the place is not far from the Ardennes for even more outdoor fun. Prefer to stay close to the campsite? Then rent a kayak for a trip down the Lesse. In the evening you can make a campfire to complete your camping adventure. By the way, don't wait too long to book. This is one of the most booked places on our platform ;)!

4. Campsite With a View of the "Siebengebirge"

Do you have a motorhome or have you rented a motorhome and are you going to Germany? Then be sure to visit this camping spot with a view of "Siebengebirge". The camping site is located in the Rhein-Westerwald nature park and is therefore a good base for a holiday in nature. You will find no less than 48 hiking routes around the camping site and also a lot of routes for mountain biking. Fancy even more of a challenge? You can paraglide nearby! The motorhome site has no further facilities, but of course you don't need them when traveling in a campervan.

5. Surf Camp Portugal

In addition to the smaller and more basic camping spots, you will also find fully catered camping experiences with us. You can find one of them at this surf camp in Portugal. It's a pristine surfer's paradise along the coast of Portugal where you can book lessons, ride the waves yourself, sign up for various workshops and have time to explore the area. In addition, you can book a very complete accommodation. All accommodations are high quality canvas tents, equipped with real beds, high quality mattresses and electricity. All tents have a wooden floor.
