Welcome to my home! I live in a tiny house on a 3800 m2 plot in Bois de Roly, a residential woods within Viroin-Hermeton Nature Park. There is plenty of space, and I am happy to welcome campers over, so long as everyone leaves no trace so nature can thrive.
IMPORTANT NOTE: I am frequently away from home and my schedule changes often. Please arrive prepared to be entirely self-sufficient (bring drinking water).
THE ENVIRONMENT:
You will share the space with a rich variety of life: dozens of bird species (blue tits, woodpeckers, owls), amphibians in the ponds, red squirrels, hedgehogs, and the occasional wild boar. I have planted dozens of native and fruit-bearing trees. It is usually quiet here, besides the birds' songs, though there is a local train track deep in the back of the property that runs about twice per hour during the day (less on weekends).
To protect this fragile ecosystem, please read the Rules section below carefully before booking! You can also visit my personal website (Woodsy Home) for a complete list of amenities, photos, and the hundreds of species documented on the property.
--- RULES & GUIDELINES ---
Please send me an approximate time of arrival when you book.
🔥 FIRE & FIREWOOD (Strictly Enforced)
- No foraging: Foraging for dead wood from the surroundings is absolutely prohibited. I use fallen wood for landscaping, dead hedges, and wildlife habitats. What looks like a random pile of sticks might be weeks of my hard work!
- Bring your own: I highly prefer you bring your own firewood (available at nearby gas stations/stores). I use my wood to heat my house.
- Buying from me: If you cannot bring wood, I provide hand-split firewood for 25 euros (or 1 hour of landscaping work). ONLY take wood from the designated camper shelter, not from the pile by my tiny house.
- Safety: Fires are only allowed in the provided fire bowl. Never leave it unattended, and extinguish completely with water before sleeping. Do not burn plastic/trash.
♺ TRASH & RECYCLING (Leave No Trace)
I only take trash out a few times a year, please pack out your garbage. If you must leave it, sort meticulously:
- Compost (Mandatory): ANY food scraps MUST go in the compost, never the trash (it attracts animals).
- PMC (Blue Bag): Plastic bottles, metal cans, drink cartons.
- Glass: Take it with you! (Closest bin is Allee des Aubepines 113b).
- Black Bin: ONLY non-recyclable, non-food items.
🌱 NATURE & NOISE
- Watch your step: Use a flashlight at night so you don't trample saplings. Use hammock tree-friendly straps only (min 2cm wide, no ropes).
- Quiet hours: No loudspeakers ever. No loud noise or wood chopping after 10 p.m. Noise complaints from neighbors result in eviction.
- Toilets & Peeing: All solid waste and toilet paper must go in the compost toilet (use only plain, unscented paper). You may pee on trees but not in the ponds. Use biodegradable soap only.
📋 GENERAL
- Pets: Welcome, but must be kept under control (no fences).
- Nudity: Allowed anywhere not in plain sight of neighbors (I am usually nude when it's warm).
