the ideal place to go all the way back to basics. even with the hot temperatures very pleasant temperature under the shade of trees and shrubs. everything is there for cooking ... pots, plates cutlery glasses. the shower took some getting used to but a very well thought out system. definitely worth doing.

How was the contact with the host?
a very friendly and spontaneous host on arrival and departure. oh and don't forget Topkie. you had the host's cat as a pet for free 😊😊😊

Tips for new guests?
be sure to visit Orval Abbey and within half an hour 2 ruins of Chateau de Bouillon and Herbeumont.

If you're looking for 'back to basics principles', this is the place to be.
No running water, just a stream next to the camp site. Heating water over a fire, taking a bath or shower in nature. Fantastic experience!

How was the contact with the host?
Very friendly man, who explains everything neatly and clearly when you arrive. Both in French and in English.

Tips for new guests?
Do you want peace and disconnection from the digital world? Then this is the place to be.

A very unique and special experience!

Really back to the basics but the camp has everything you need to have a great time. We loved the surroundings and nature and the campfire, candles and torches gave a romantic and cozy feeling. The bathtub was also a really nice add.

How was the contact with the host?
Nicolas was kind and relaxed and his english was great!

This place was really back to basics, and we loved it.

From cooking on the fire, to using the water in the stream to fill a watering can that you shower with (water heated on the fire).

We also managed to fill the metal bath with water and build a fire underneath to heat haha, it was fantastic.

It was really a special place for 10/10.

How was the contact with the host?
He was really nice.

Explained everything and gave us some ideas of things to do in the area.

Tips for new guests?
- Definitely try the bath.

- We had bad weather the first night and would have been nice to have brought some board games.

- if you bring your own soaps etc, bring all bio degradable.

This is absolutely a wonderful hideout! Hiding in plain sight in one of the most beautiful areas of Belgium. The camp is spacious and comfortable, but you have to be camping minded. This is the camp you dreamed of building when you were a kid, but never actually built.

How was the contact with the host?
Nicholas is a great host. Super nice! Take some time to talk to him and you'll find all the pieces fit together and make quite a jigsaw :-)

Tips for new guests?
Take a bath! You have to take a bath!
And bring a Bialletti/Machinetta, or other machinery to make coffee in the morning.

We imagined this place completely differently. The photos are correct but only show details. "The camp" is hidden on a piece of wasteland in a village. To enter you have to pass some rubbish and building materials. The "living space" is covered with plastic sheeting and gives a dark impression. The cushions, table and counter also do not seem very clean and attractive to sit in or on.

There are nice features and inventions to see and discover. And I also read that others really enjoyed it. But it really didn't appeal to us to stay one night. Too dark (maybe the plastic tarps weren't there in the summer?) and not really clean (certainly the rubbish at the entrance was a nuisance). The fact that you had to make a fire under a tarpaulin and he told us very clearly that we were not insured also did not feel very comfortable.

We therefore decided not to stay and look for another place. I think the price is very high in comparison.

How was the contact with the host?
Very good, fast and correct. Friendly man. But he was not willing to make a partial refund because he said he had spent a lot of cleaning and preparation time. However, we would have considered a partial refund appropriate.

Tips for new guests?
This is really, as its description says, back to basics. We expected it to be more idyllic and open. The location didn't really convince us either.

Dear Charlotte, I am sorry to see that you did not like the camp. The problem is that you didn't stay until nightfall to fully enjoy the attractions of this camp which are the lit fires and the unique atmosphere that they provide. The photos I posted are clear it seems to me. As for the location of the place, it is noted in the description "in the heart of a village". I'm sorry that your imagination led you to think otherwise. As for the price, it is low contrary to what you think. This price justifies the time spent building this camp, as well as preparing the kindling, filling the torches, water, and preparing the bed with sheets that I provide. And above all it justifies the warm atmosphere of the fire and the torches in the evening. I think you would have had a completely different point of view if you had stayed.
