Arrival was a bit difficult because the farm gate was closed and Gerd couldn't be reached by phone. But then it worked. Now that it's autumn the ground was wet, so unfortunately we couldn't go behind the house with the motorhome. So we were happy that there was a paved place right at the entrance. The few cars on the street didn't bother us.
We enjoyed our stay, unfortunately the time was far too short. We could have discovered a lot more and geocached by bike.

How was the contact with the host?
When we arrived, the professor greeted us warmly and personally brought us the power cable to the motorhome.
As we said goodbye, we had an interesting conversation about his time at the Terramare research center and the Institute of Marine Chemistry and Biology.
The insight into the history of the Kosterhof, which dates back to 1575, was equally interesting.

Tips for new guests?
We recommend that you contact us in advance to arrange your arrival time.
The tall trees make television reception difficult or even impossible.
We recommend a visit to the Moor Information Center and a ride on the Moorbahn in Ahlenmoor: Am Hohen Kopf 3, 21776 Wanna. Afterwards, be sure to enjoy the cake in the local café.

We slept in the car on a spot on the lawn. Beautiful large property with a lovely and helpful host. Was always ready for a conversation, his tenant's dog was very happy to play Frisbee with us.

Tips for new guests?
The gate may be closed and there is no house number outside so it is a bit harder to find. You can just enter through the gate, it is not locked.

On our trip we booked an overnight stay with Gerd. We booked at very short notice and Gerd gave us a commitment very quickly.

How was the contact with the host?
Gerd is a lovely elderly gentleman. Who, as my previous commenters mentioned, has a lot of knowledge. We were able to talk heartily about our gardens, play Frisbee with Morti.

Tips for new guests?
If you are interested in exchanging ideas with Gerd about nature and the garden, and certainly also about good food and history, then you have come to the right place.

This is really a gem. You are in Gerd's backyard, a beautiful place! Often alone and sometimes with another camper.

You use the sanitary facilities of the guest room and that is completely fine. Hygiene could be a tad sharper, but we don't blame the host for that. We had a great time there.

There isn't much to do in the area other than walking and cycling, so make the most of the deafening tranquility and beautiful stars at night…

How was the contact with the host?
Very kind. He is always ready and happy to help you.

We traveled to Otterndorf by train and were warmly welcomed by Gerd. He was so nice and took our luggage while we rode a beautiful route to his place on rented bikes. Arrived in the monastery courtyard garden, we were overwhelmed by the beauty of the property and the possibility of self-sufficiency. We were allowed to choose the pitch for our tent ourselves. Gerd was always there when we needed something or had questions.

How was the contact with the host?
Gerd is a warm, courteous person. We felt comfortable and at home with him. His knowledge of so many things is vast and super interesting! We communicated with each other in an uncomplicated way right from the start via the Campspace website and it continued like this throughout our stay. We would come back just because of Gerd. Thank you so much for your trust and hospitality dear Gerd!!

Tips for new guests?
Nordleda is about 25 minutes by bike from Otterndorf (the journey is worth it). If you arrive by train and don't have your own bikes with you, there is a bike rental service at Otterndorf train station. However, it is in very high demand. You should call and reserve directly there if you know when you're coming.
Surrounding supermarkets are open until 9 p.m.
The sea can be reached in about 30 minutes by bike from Nordleda.

How was the contact with the host?
We were received very nicely (although the booking was a bit confused)

Tips for new guests?
Bring your bikes, like we did, so the car can stay where it is. A great tour of the Elbe is possible.

Hello, this is my first experience with Campspace. I'm a backpacker traveling alone. Arrival by IC/ RE/ bus directly to Nordlede possible. Gerd's large monastery courtyard, which is covered with reed, is a dream of traditional half-timbering, which he constantly keeps in good shape himself. Likewise, his large garden with lots of flowers, herbs and vegetables in which the tents are. A good guest bathroom is accessible 24/7, with a hot shower, toilet, vanity - same outside for washing dishes etc. It is very quiet and relaxing here. Trees and shrubs, many wild bees, birds can be heard and bats must be observed. Cows graze at the neighbors. Farmsteads impress with their size and varied cultivation on the land. I particularly like the central location between Cuxhaven and Hamburg right where the Elbe flows. There are plenty of things to do whatever the weather. The open North Sea is obvious - as I said, everything can be reached without a car.

How was the contact with the host?
Very warm and open. Always approachable of the day for concerns as he does not care but was always very helpful and extremely communicative. I am convinced that the professor shares his life, his life experience and his love for nature with great joy.

Tips for new guests?
Pay attention to the times of the bus service and the Ruftaxi, inform them.

Since I am currently starting camping again, I would bring my stove etc. with me.

As soon as possible, ie from September again after the €9 rush onto the train, bring your bike with you and make very nice signposted day and round trips in Cuxland. Because the trains have a whole wagon for wheels.

Unfortunately, a lot of rain had fallen. Therefore, the site was not suitable for camping. Unfortunately Gerd couldn't do anything about that.

We had a lovely stay. Beautiful garden and we got some very tasty strawberries.

How was the contact with the host?
Gerd is very warm and welcoming. He gave strawberries from the garden as a dessert.

Tips for new guests?
Bring your own food, there is only a snack bar where you can walk to for food. The camp space is also near the sea side where you have a lot of bars and restaurants.
