Eco-friendly route

We start our trip in Utrecht, the Netherlands, and drive east to Germany.

1. Nature campsite Mechernich, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany

Our first stop is in Mechernich, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, where we camp in an open meadow in the middle of nature, surrounded by vast heathlands, dense forests and picturesque landscapes. Don't miss the chance to learn more about the mechanics of a clock from our host at an artisanal clock farm.

2. Farm campsite Luxembourg Ardennes

From Germany, we travel on to Bockholtz, Canton Wolz, Luxembourg. Here we experience the charm of a small farm campsite by the river Sûre, close to the Luxembourg Ardennes.

Tip: For the more adventurous, the river Sûre offers the opportunity to kayak or canoe. Paddle through the beautiful waterways and enjoy the natural beauty of the area. The host also has canoes of its own, so should you be a real adventurer, you've come to the right place.

3. Black Forest motorhome site

We then return to Germany and visit Calw, Baden-Württemberg, an enchanting camper site in the Black Forest. This historic site, between the forest and the river, beneath a castle ruin and an adjacent historic Maierhof is a magical place to stay. In the morning, you may even find horses, donkeys or goats standing in front of your tent to greet you. At night, the owls call you to sleep. If you really want to become completely one with nature, you can request an overnight stay in the private forest from the host.

4. Horseback riding close to Munich, American Ranch experience in Bavaria

In Dasing, Bavaria, you will stay at a real American ranch. Here you have the chance to take riding lessons on a real cowboy horse. Hikes and treks with alpacas are also available. If you stay here, you will have a beautiful view of the horse pasture.

Tip: In addition to already having plenty to do on the campspace itself, there is also plenty to do in the surrounding area. Discover the Dasinger Schloss, a beautiful castle located near the campspot. The castle has a rich history and offers interesting architecture and gardens to explore. Sample local Bavarian cuisine at nearby restaurants and beer gardens. Indulge in traditional dishes such as pretzels, Weisswurst and schnitzels, accompanied by a refreshing German beer.

5. Camping close to the German North Sea

Nordleda, Lower Saxony, Germany is our next stop. This serene spot is located between the North Sea and the mouth of the Elbe, where the Klosterhof garden with flower, herb, fruit and vegetable beds from 1575 invites you to relax in nature.

There is much to see and experience in the area. The Klosterhofgarten is about 25 kilometres from the Cuxhaven Wadden Sea and beaches and about 8 kilometres from the Elbe at Otterndorf. Kite-surfers and windsurfers also get their money's worth in the area.

6. Sleeping in the meadows in Hellendoorn

We end our trip in Hellendoorn, Overijssel, Netherlands, where we camp in a spacious garden among the meadows, near the Regge river. Here you will have the chance to taste organic vegetables and small fruits from the kitchen garden. Pitch your tent according to your preference: sheltered under the tree, overlooking the vegetable garden or along the greenhouse to the meadows. The kitchen garden offers you organic vegetables and small fruits for a very reasonable fee. If the chickens are in the mood, there are fresh eggs. For real relaxation, you can also borrow books. In the morning, breakfast can be prepared for you. This host also likes to share a meal with others.
