Shelter
Get a completely unique experience in one of our 3 shelters on Byens Torv, which are made like giant starling hotels in the village of Sæd near the gate to the Wadden Sea National Park and the border with Germany.
Each starling hotel contains a bedroom on the 1st floor (140 cm x 200 cm) and a small living room on the ground floor (200 cm x 200 cm) with a small cafe table and 2 chairs. There is an established kitchen and toilet with an outdoor cold shower next to the 3 star hotels. There is both clean water and electricity for the mobile phone.
Each starling hotel has a nice large terrace facing east, south and west with garden furniture.
Byens Torv is at your disposal, where you can meet the locals.
There is firewood at the campfire in bags worth DKK 40.
Power for mobile charging etc. in the kitchen/toilet building.
Here is:
- Multi court with artificial grass (13 mx 26 m)
- Croft court with 12 holes
- Petanque court
- Giant chess
- ladder golf
- Local brewery and monastery
- grill/fireplace
- Lots of community.
In the period March to May and from September to November, experience 100,000s of starlings migrating towards their accommodations at Rudbøl lake, Bremsbøl lake or Hassberger See (south of Rudbøl. Remember to watch out!). On the accommodation site there is a shared fire pit/grill with free firewood.
DKK 120 per person per day for accommodation in the starling hotels. Each can sleep 2 people.
Combine the overnight stay with a canoe trip. Grønå, Sønderå and Vidåen are close or a hike on the Marskstierne (55 km).

You will feel like a happy cataract in the star hotel. 3 star hotels have been left on Byens Torv. A star hotel is a kind of modern shelter where you can spend the night upstairs and relax downstairs. The star hotel measures 2.10 mx 2.10 m and is about 4.20 m high. Next to the star hotels, there is a toilet and a kitchenette, as well as an outdoor shower so that tourists and guests can have a comfortable stay.

In the description of this campsite it says that you can expect a unique experience, and I can only confirm these words after my stay at this beautiful Stærehotel in Sæd. It was simply an unforgettable pleasure to be here. I had everything I needed during my stay: clean toilet, well equipped kitchen with sink, hob, electric kettle, kitchen utensils and even a vacuum cleaner. Despite Stærehotellet's simplicity, it still had an incredible charm, and for me it was a very special experience that I would happily recommend to others. In addition, there was the most amazing sunset in the evening, which I enjoyed with a cup of coffee, and I woke up to a beautiful sunrise, which I could enjoy from the first floor. This place is ideal, especially for families with children, as there is a wide range of outdoor activities that the whole family can enjoy.
How was the contact with the host?
I decided to go into the kitchen before bed to charge my power bank but ran into problems opening the lock. So I decided to write to the host, not really expecting anyone to answer so late in the evening (11pm), but surprisingly the host showed up after only 5 minutes to help me with the key. It was truly an impressive service and I have a lot of respect for it.
Tips for new guests?
I would recommend bringing a sleeping pad or an inflatable mattress, as it can be hard on the back to sleep only in a sleeping bag.

Super cool cabins and cool area.
Perfect with children with so many outdoor activities.
Everything was nice and clean and the toilet conditions were good.
It was very bad weather and it rained almost from the time we arrived until we left, but still we had a nice day where we got to play a lot :-)
Not the last time we come, next time we just hope for some sun.
How was the contact with the host?
Answered sms fine when we couldn't get a code to fit.

Lovely little cabins in a cozy little town.
How was the contact with the host?
Uncomplicated, as you get access to the key directly at the cabin.
Tips for new guests?
There is access to a kitchen with hob, electric kettle and sink, so you can easily prepare simple dishes there and do not need to bring your own cooking equipment.

It was a cozy place with beautiful nature around us and multi-lane, if you have children with you. Nice with closed shelter when you are not used to sleeping in the open air. We also enjoyed that there was a toilet and a small kitchen with kettle.
Super nice for a single night 👍 much better and easier than sleeping in a tent. Shelter was also nicely furnished 😊

Very nice shelter with good facilities and opportunities for activities.
The area is cared for and nurtured and seems very inviting.
Short distance across the border and to Noldes Museum and beautiful garden. Nice and cheap lunch in the café by the museum.
It can all be clearly recommended and would be happy to visit again.

This is the second time we are staying in Sæd at Stærehotellet. It is just some small cozy cabins that are possible to make a fire, so you can toast a sausage etc. There is a toilet and shower as well as a small kitchen on the square, it is definitely a big +.
Would definitely recommend it to others.

It was simply a nice and beautiful place. The place is for children, young people and adults alike. It is fine and has almost all facilities with access to a small kitchen, shower and toilet.
We had small battery-powered spotlights which gave a really good atmosphere, ate breakfast on the terrace which you can all the way around.
Can highly recommend the place

My stay in Stærehotellet was absolutely perfect. I would like to stay in shelters in connection with Easter and be sure to get a place. I therefore booked 2 nights at Hejcamp. The star houses are so nice with room for 2 people on the loft and table and 2 chairs on the "ground floor"
In one house on the square there is a nice toilet and a small kitchen with kettle and hob. On the square there is lively activity, the local young people play ball on the multi-court. It is possible to play giant chess. At the campfire site, I had a chat with a couple of locals, who were sitting and enjoying themselves by the fire.
It's just a mega cool place.

Stærehotellet in Sæd can be highly recommended for those who want to experience nature by the Wadden Sea (it is only a 20 minute drive to Højer Sluse). The cabins are very well furnished with seating and a cafe table at the bottom as well as a sleeping area with ample space for two people at the top. In addition, a fantastic view of both sunrise and sunset awaits at the top, as the windows are in an easterly and westerly direction.
If you want to cook, there is a good opportunity for it in a well-equipped kitchen, just as there is a nice and clean toilet with soap and paper :-)
The cabins are really nicely made and keep the heat well - we certainly did not freeze :-)

My daughter of 4 and I spent the night in star box number 1. It is by the way the last to get sun, evening and morning. The facilities were as described and we had a really nice overnight stay. It was my daughter who spotted the place on the net and she spent no less than half an hour praising every detail of the place upon our arrival :)

We had a really nice overnight stay, despite the bad weather but then it was nice to be able to sit inside. Cozy little village with playground close to the star hotel.
The only minus about the place is that it pulls from the windows up on the loft, and that it could be nice with a railing up on the loft, so it was safer for the one who was outermost.

3 lovely luxury shelters with access to a real toilet and a small kitchen with hob and kettle.
There is a multi-lane right next to the shelters, so if you want peace, this is probably not the place to go.
But super beautiful surroundings with the possibility of both football, basketball, krolf, ladder golf and outdoor chess. There is also a petanque court with accompanying balls (but these were unfortunately rusty and full of animals, as they have probably been out all winter) so bring your own.
We struggled with drafts from the window you sleep under, but you can hope it will be made. At least it is uncomfortable with drafts.
We would like to come again, a wonderful place.

Lovely luxury shelter, with accessible small kitchen, with sink, a hob and kettle that is not hot water. Nice and clean toilet. We used ladder golf, you can also play krolf, or use the ball field + make a fire.
In the evening we lit candles and had fun with cards.
The star hotel is definitely only for 2 people and the sleeping space upstairs is a bit cramped. A barrier at the stairs could be desired, so that the outermost person does not have to be nervous about falling down.

Our experience has been very good, it was a lovely place to have a holiday, especially the nature and the good surroundings, the bad things were the chairs, you got a pain from side to side and you had to go into the kitchen to charge your mobile phone, but otherwise everything was fantastic safe again. Etc. Andreas Martensen
How was the contact with the host?
Super good and super talented host, you have to say everything was found
Tips for new guests?
It's a super good place for cheap money, remember to bring a pillow, otherwise it hurts, or bring your own chair and charge power banks, otherwise it takes a long time to do it all with the mobile phone.

It's a nice place not only starling hotel for us humans, but there are so many starling boxes up there, so it's a starling hotel too.
It is nice with a toilet and a small kitchenette. Especially when we were away in a really cold and windy weather.
Unfortunately, the windows were a bit leaky, which we clearly felt in the very windy weather.
We will definitely pass by another time again, whore there is hopefully better weather.

The shelter was really nice and well maintained. Super nice with table and chairs inside for when it rained.
The campfire site is close by and was really nice. Absolutely perfect with a grate if you have to cook over a fire.
There was a kitchen, shower and toilet, which is a luxury.
A great experience, I will be back again this summer!

It was a nice and cozy shelter, but not a place we will return to. Unfortunately we had not paid enough attention to the location before we booked and we were therefore badly disappointed. If you are into nature, Stærehotellet is not the right place.
