Quiet camping with a wide view.
About this campspace #s004543
Just across the Belgian border in Northern France lies a beautiful scenic landscape called the Thierache; a hilly landscape with forests, meadows and fields and is what the French still call “the real campaign”.
In the spring and summer, a visit to one of the many flea markets is of course attractive. Residents seize the opportunity to offer their things: curios, antique furniture, crockery and tools. But also culinary craftsmanship with home-made pâtés, cider and honey.
What could be better than to tour the small roads of the Thierache past slumbering quiet villages, the impressive churches with their fascinating history. The villages and churches are hospitable. The church door is usually open to everyone, as long as you have respect.
In many villages there are fort churches (Eglises fortifiees). The Jeantes weather church is special; the interior walls of this church were painted in 1962 by the Dutch painter Charles Eyck. The Dutch artist Inge Behling, who lives in Jeantes, talks about it.
Plenty of space, peace and quiet. Here you can still enjoy a radiant starry sky in the evening and at night, undamaged by light and air pollution. The Forêt Domaniale de la Haye d'Aubenton is a beautiful setting for a walk.
For VTT routes there is a site of Tourisme Thiérache
