A hidden gem to de-stress in the Spanish nature. As I write this my girlfriend takes a nap and I look out over the olive trees and the valley with 6 mountain peaks. Little birds are whistling, there is a gentle breeze that cools down our camper, here it's peaceful and quiet. Good combination with my can of San Miguel that I just opened. The owners Ron and Karin of Mas Karmel apply a philosophy where freedom and respect for nature applies. Don't think about a standard campsite. We are not typical camping guests, but we decided to stay much longer than planned. The tranquility, the great view from the mountain and the surroundings are wonderful. This campsite doesn't have camping spots signs with numbers here, you go with the (bus) camper, tent or caravan wherever you want. Find a nice place and enjoy the surroundings. You stand here among the olive and other trees and you have miles of unobstructed views as if you had been allowed to stand here by the farmer. Awesome! The Viaverde is a well-known walking / cycling route in Spain and runs just below the site, the village is fairly close and has a cozy square, very nice butcher shop, a bakery, and a grocery store. You have everything nearby to enjoy culinary delights and while you have the feeling that you are camping in the wild nature, we have an off-grid camper bus but they also provide electricity here. Our dog walked around freely all day, could play with the owner's dog and also had the time of his life. On top of the mountain, Ron and Karin have a B&B, terrace, BBQ area, and a nice swimming pool. They also offer all kinds of services such as breakfast, dinner or drinks. We were also very pleased with the showers and toilet building. All fairly new, very clean and the best showers. We will come back here in any case.

Very nice campspace with a beautiful view of the valley. You can choose your own place and decorate it whatever makes it pleasant. Electricity facilities could be a little better, especially for campervans. You also sleep here in a sea of rest with a fantastic starry sky. The lovely village of Horta de San Joan is also within walking distance. The Via Verde (cycling and walking) is also very close.`
Watch out for camper vans when entering the driveway. We rubbed our exhaust against the asphalt and there are also some sharp and high stones here and there on the driveway.
(+) motorhome space to choose from
(+) tranquility and view
(+) close to the village and the Via Verde . cycling route
(-) the lack of a solid information folder about the region and also the explanation about the region by Karin and Ron we really found far too little. The map that is now offered is really very brief and looks very amateurish. In the village of Horta there is a (Belgian) lady in the Tourist Information Center who will overload you with information about the region and the many possibilities that are available. This is a working point on the campspace because now you only get some small brochures and very limited explanations about walks. There is so much to do and experience in this region. Work together with the Tourist Information Center and provide solid maps, more brochures, more detailed information, ...
If this can be improved then this gets 5 stars from me.
But definitely a campspace to plan in your route!!
How was the contact with the host?
OK. But unfortunately too little information about the area where they live.
Tips for new guests?
Be sure to visit the Tourist Information Center in Horta for information about the region and the many possibilities. The (Belgian) lady overloads you with information and talks with great pride about this very beautiful region.
