You are in the yard of a former arable farm on the edge of the Wieringermeer polder. The Wieringermeerpolder is the first Zuiderzeepolder which dried up in 1930.
On the other side of the adjacent dike is the greeting polder. At about 1.5 kilometers you can visit the former fishing village of Kolhorn. If you go further west, you will find the pleasant regional town of Schagen at 7 kilometers with its many amenities, catering and shopping area. When you continue through the extensive bulb fields, you will arrive in the North Sea coastal town of Callantsoog.
Towards the east you can visit the old Zuiderzee town of Medemblik, or go and eat some fish in the harbor of den Oever. Between these two places, the extensive Robbenoord and Dijkgatsbos are worth a brisk walk.

We were born and raised in the Wieringermeer and enjoy sharing the history and character of this region with our guests. We live and work on this former arable farm. The property has a rich history, established in 1938 by the previous owner. The name carries maritime and Greek roots, meaning 'reclaimed from the sea'.
We are constantly working to improve our home and workspace for ourselves and for you as a guest. If you have ideas or suggestions, we'd love to hear them.

For example, just two kilometers away, the former Zuiderzee village of Kolhorn is worth a visit. In Kolhorn you will find the Historical Museum De Turfschuur where you can learn more about the history of the former Zuiderzee village. The museum is open on Saturdays and Sundays or by appointment. You can also sail on Sunday with the only remaining anchovy, the KH44.
Prefer to do something within walking distance? The West Frisian lock is only 500 meters from the Marnic Hoeve: it connects the Wieringermeerpolder with the Groetpolder with a drop of 5 meters. Here you can see how special the polder landscape is. From April to October, a lock keeper is available every day to answer all your questions.
