Welcome to our mini-campsite 800 meters from the Markermeer. Originally, this was an organic market garden with a nature campsite in the West Frisian village of Venhuizen, near the IJsselmeer dike between Hoorn and Enkhuizen. Unfortunately, due to circumstances, we have no harvest this year and the market garden has become overgrown. Nevertheless, it remains a lovely place where you can do whatever you like. At our mini-campsite, you can pitch your tent, caravan, or campervan (max 3500kg) on one of the spacious spots, in complete peace and quiet, surrounded by greenery. Don't have your own camping equipment? No problem; there are two beautiful, fully equipped yurts for rent. There are various play facilities available for children, such as a trampoline, slide, sandpit, and various go-karts and tractors. Many chickens and roosters, cats (to cuddle with), dogs, and of course many species of birds and insects live on the market garden. Please note that the sanitary building is a short walk away. We strive for biodynamic horticulture, based on enhancing natural growth with attention to soil fertility and diversity in crop cultivation. We view nature as an interconnected whole, where the influence of climate, soil fertility, water pollution, biodiversity, and air quality, among other factors, plays a determining role. This also means that it is not a 'stiff and tidy' campsite. The grass is uneven, which might make it difficult if you have mobility issues. The garden is wild, and weeds are grown intentionally for optimal soil fertility and biodiversity. This wildness is a haven for special plants and insects. Surroundings Enjoy the tranquility amidst the greenery, the farmland, and the expansive views. Our campsite is located 800 meters from the Markermeer, featuring two small beaches. The water depth is approximately 1 meter for several hundred meters, which is ideal for children and results in a water temperature that is just a few degrees higher. Naturally, the surroundings are perfect for lovely walks and bike rides along the dike and through the beautiful polder landscape. We are situated directly on the popular LF cycling and walking route, the Zuiderzee Route. The historic town of Enkhuizen is 6 km away, featuring the Zuiderzee Museum, Sprookjeswonderland, the 'Kindervreugd' playground, and the ferry to Stavoren and Urk. The VOC city of Hoorn is 11 km away and Medemblik 18 km away. Various shops can be found in both Venhuizen and Bovenkarspel, both within 3 km of TuinGoed. Venhuizen/Hem also houses a nice outdoor swimming pool: 't Hemmerven and the bicycle rental service Rijwielhuis Hem.
