La Bassotta is a villa located in a quiet neighborhood in the middle of Valgandino.
It's an ideal hub for discovering the province of Bergamo, sightseeing, relaxing, enjoying typical food, hiking and climbing.
We are just a few minutes from the old village of Gandino (with its Basilica and Museum), 15 minutes from Monte Farno (with its scenic trails) and from the small city of Clusone, 30 minutes from the city of Bergamo, the amazing mountain of Presolana and the Iseo Lake.
If you aspire to an eco-friendly lifestyle, or if you are interested in permaculture, sociocracy and the Transition Towns movement, at our property we can talk about it for a long time...
And if you are a climber, within half an hour you will find dozens of crags, and I can offer you many useful tips...
Available services: there is a small independent and always accessible building with toilet, sink and solar shower (hot water only when it's sunny!). Wi-Fi available near the house, table and chairs under the porch, loungers, electricity in the WC building and under the porch, extension cord, possibility of recharging devices; bus-stop at 300 meters, rail station and Bergamo airport at about 30 minutes by car with transfer possibility.
Possibility of visiting local organic farmers and buying their products.
There is room for a minivan (the entrance gate is 2,40 large). Please consider that the car and van parking is not next to the tent's meadow.

We had a really good time in Gloria's beautiful garden! The surrounding of Bergamo/Gandino is awesome. Unfortunately we could only see a fraction of all the nice places during our four days stay. One more reason to come again.
How was the contact with the host?
Very pleasant and friendly host who has to share a lot of insider tips and recommendations with her guests.
Tips for new guests?
The place is nice and generous. Especially the concert of the church bells of the whole Valgandino every morning is a nice experience.
However, it is important to note that the place is surrounded by other houses and not far from the road. For a walk in the green you have to walk at least 10 minutes through the city.

Gloria made us feel very welcome and we loved staying in her beautiful garden! She had lots of great recommondations for day activities and made us happy with her lovely spirit and funny stories! We enjoyed the conversations in the evening while watching the sunsets and the quiet, non-touristic authentic life. Gandino has a special place in our hearts now!
How was the contact with the host?
Just perfect! Gloria was so lovely and the most helpful person ever!
Tips for new guests?
Visit the basilica in the center of Gandino!

Staying at Gloria's was great! Such a calm and beautiful spot, with all basic amenities present. The covered seating area was a nice added comfort :)
How was the contact with the host?
Gloria was great! We were welcomed by her very kind sister Lucy as Gloria would come home later that evening (as communicated). Lucy already told us a lot about the environment and made sure we settled in well. Gloria is kind hearted and very helpful, gave us some good tips on what to do in our short stay around Bergamo, and is very relaxed and nice to talk to:)

The stay at Gloria's was great! She is the most welcoming and enthusiastic host which makes you feel at ease from start.
The campspace is a large grass pitch with an amazing view of the surrounding mountains and villages.
We shared the bathroom and toilet with 7 more guests, but this was no problem at all. On top of that, the bathroom was always clean :)
From there it was easy to go visit Bergamo by public transport and to go to the beautiful lake Iseo. The village of Gandino is also cute in itself.
All in all, I would definitely recommend to stay at Gloria's!

Gloria is a really friendly, welcoming and trustworthy person.
The campsite is just as you see on the photos, there is a little hut with a shower, toilet and sink which is clean.
The weather wasn't too good the first couple of nights, but that has nothing to do with our impression of Gloria. She even offered us an extra night for free to enjoy some of the sunny weather.
We were lucky to be able to use the porch which protected us well from some of the heavy rain.
Would totally recommend and come back any time we're in that area again.
How was the contact with the host?
Gloria is friendly, had tips about thinking routes, shops and restaurants. She gave her best to offer us a comfortable stay. :-)
Tips for new guests?
Ask Gloria about her friends that sell dairy products and vegetables. She has some really good tips there :-)

We loved our stay at la Bassotta! The natural garden with space for the tent is really peaceful and beautiful, with a great view of the mountains and village. Glorias sister Lucie stayed at the house while we were there. Lucie is a kindhearted and warm person who made us feel welcome from the very beginning, went out of her way to give us the best tips for exploring the area and was so helpful at all times. She even spoke perfect English and German and we shared good conversations. We would recommend everyone to visit this beautiful place!

Gloria is a very friendly host who can explain you everything of the region! She even facilitated a climbing trip for us which was amazing!!
The house has a green garden with nice mountain view, where you can pitch your tent. Though for campers there’s no access to the garden, so you have to stay on the drive. Also it was a little noisy in the area (cars, church bells).

Dear Sofie, I read your review and was disappointed by the rating assigned. Since La Bassotta is a private villa and not a campsite, it is obviously not possible to park the vans on the lawn intended for tents and placed at a different height, but all guests have access to the garden and your family has abundantly used the meadow, porch, chairs, tables and deck chairs made available to guests. I even offered your mother a tent to give her a chance to be close to her daughters' one.
Furthermore, as a climbing instructor, I took you and your sister to climb with me, lending you the equipment, without asking for any extra fees.
I'm sorry for the noise of the chainsaws that have cut down the trees in the neighboring municipality: it disturbed me a lot too! Church bells are typical in Italy and Sunday 15th is a religious celebration in my country, so they rang for a long time to celebrate it.
Finally I must say that you and your sister are very nice girls, but that you can improve your waste management, having ignored the separate collection rules that apply in my home and in my municipality.
Best regards,
Gloria.
