About this campspace

On this private piece of meadow of 100 m² you have a beautiful view of the Berendrechtse Buitenmolen and you can enjoy a beautiful sunset.

The campsite

You always have the camping spot all to yourself. There is room for a few smaller or 2 larger tents and a maximum of 8 people. The basic facilities are: 1 drinking water tap, 1 socket, 1 compost toilet and 1 'sunset sofa'.

The site is 70 meters from the street, at the intersection of the slow roads Berendrechtsvoetpad and Toon Verbraakpad. It is surrounded by shrubs which, like the surrounding meadows, are teeming with life.

All the woodwork on the camping site has been recovered and assembled together with miller Jorn: from beams washed ashore in the Galgeschoor - Lillo, over discarded meadow posts to pallets ready for heating.

Area

The mill often rotates, and there is a cozy snack bar with a terrace, children's playground, trampolines and mini golf .

In Berendrecht-Zandvliet-Lillo there is still a lot of nature and heritage. You are halfway between Antwerp and Bergen op Zoom (both at 20-25 km). But also on the border of Polder and Kempen, of rural villages and port industry, of Flanders and the Netherlands.

on a trip

This is the ideal starting point for one-day walking and cycling tours in the area or a little further away, such as the Molenwandelroute , the Gansrijdersroute (bicycle): pdf with description / junctions , the walking routes of Grenspark Kalmthoutse Heide , the district routes around heritage and nature , about -and-back to Yerseke (food & drinks), Wemeldinge (beach), Scheldeoord (beach), Lillo-Doel-Emmadorp (Scheldt and Saeftinghe), Bergen op zoom (historic town), ...

But it is also a great stopping point on a multi-day trip along mini campsites , such as a 'Rondje Westerschelde' with ferries Lillo-Liefkenshoek and Breskens-Vlissingen or a 'Rondje Zeeland' via Willemstad, Tiengemeten, Goedereede, Westenschouwen, Dreischor, Zierikzee, Oranjezon, Veere, Ellewoutsdijk, Nisse, Scheldeoord, Wemeldinge, Yerseke and much more…

Hello, I live with Fien and Fonne (and our plus chickens Isa, Tintin and Odette) near the Buitenmolen in the wonderful Berendrecht-Zandvliet-Lillo. I have a heart for nature, music, heritage, slow roads, beer, free thinkers, scientists, ...

Tips

  • With the 'mill walking route' you can see a beautiful cross-section of the nature and heritage of Brendrecht and Zandvliet at 8 km.

  • Request a tour from the hospitable miller when the mill is running.

  • Supermarket, butchers and bakery in Zandvliet and Berendrecht. Market in Zandvliet on Friday morning.

  • Close to Eetcafé De Molen, but also other nice cafes and restaurants in Berendrecht, Zandvliet and Lillo.

  • Pub De Molen, Chez Mouche, Restaurant Reigershof, De Leeuw van Vlaanderen, ...

A nice and quiet spot with handy basic facilities such as a picnic bench and water connection. And a nice view of the mill :) It was quiet in the evening, we had a nice 2 nights!

A very quiet and pleasant spot in the field. There is a picnic bench, toilet and running water. We had a nice night and would love to come back again.

Unfortunately we didn't see Pieter because we arrived late and left early in the morning due to the warm weather and we were on foot.

Slept well with the rain on my tent.

How was the contact with the host?
By chance I ran into Pieter, just when I arrived. He had tips for the area and quickly checked the facilities before I was allowed on the site. We had a nice chat about holiday cycling and by chance I ran into him again two days later in the Netherlands, when I was on my way home.

Tips for new guests?
Don't be put off by the proximity of the port of Antwerp, the sound of installations is audible, but the view of the mill is authentic.

Very good stay with Pieter. The location is a quiet little spot right next to a mill and lots of horses. Right in the middle of the countryside. Water, dry toilets, electrical outlet, table, bench and even a parasol. The location is about thirty meters from the street and you can park the car about a hundred meters away. 15 km from the Lillo waterbus to go to Antwerp and 20 km from the lutchbal parking lot to take the Antwerp tram. Perfect location for us.

How was the contact with the host?
Very good contact with Pieter. He came to see us every day to see if everything was going well! Thank you very much Peter.

Kamp Molenzicht is a surprising place. We were actually right next to the mill, which started to turn the next day too.
The facilities at Pieter's place are excellent for us. A large parasol, picnic table, a neat compost toilet, power socket, water and, very nice for cyclists or foot travelers: we could leave our little waste behind.
Pieter is a careful and involved host who is also committed to the culture in and around Berendrecht and who can tell you interestingly about it. Despite his own busy day, he immediately helped us when there was a problem with one of the bicycles, and thanks to his help and the fantastic bicycle specialist Rini Pijnen in Ossendrecht, we were finally able to continue!
It was an unexpected but wonderful start to a very successful holiday and we would like to come back again.

Lovely camping site with a beautiful view of the mill. A toilet, tap and a socket ensure that you have all the basic necessities for a successful stay. In addition, there was a closure which is an added value for our dog. You can eat or drink something in eatery de molen, supermarket is also close by. Scout Andre About the scout program

Tell us about your experience
Nice small, but nice spot just over the Dutch border in Belgium. But also on a border between nature (several nearby forests, such as the Reigerbos, Moretusbos, Brabantse Wal and Kalmthoutse Heide), culture (the defense belt of Antwerp) and industry (the port of Antwerp). The camping site is located directly on a cycle path, but the high vegetation provides sufficient privacy and ensures that the camping site can also be found by the many birds. In the morning it was wonderful to enjoy a fresh cup of coffee and a view of the mill and the grassland behind the camping site. Where some horses were grazing, the birds fluttered around merrily and a hare jumped by from an unexpected corner.
The compost toilet was well maintained, drinking water is available via the garden hose connection and an electric charging point for telephone or power bank has also been considered. There is also a nice picnic table and parasol, which is of course ideal for lightweight campers, so you can actually leave chairs at home.
As for trips, as mentioned plenty of options. I took a nice walk through the various forests, but also along the various bunkers, fortresses and redoubts of the defense line of Antwerp. Please note that because of the bat protection, not all forts are accessible/accessible. And finally I could enjoy the harbor with all the activity and impressively large freight ships in the harbor of Berendrecht.

Tips for new guests?
Do not take too many things with you as a car camper, because you have to walk a short distance over the bike path to get to the camping spot. And don't forget to have a bite to eat at the adjacent mill, the food there is delicious!

This camping site is incredibly beautiful and cleanly decorated! Nicely decorated compost toilet, beautiful wooden bench, a border with wild flowers, a beautiful working old windmill nearby, drinking water and electricity. Plus, you get this place privately to yourself. The only slight drawback, if the wind is wrong, is the nighttime noise from the harbor industry, but you can sleep well with that.

How was the contact with the host?
