About this location

Reflect on nature. On the edge of the Drents-Friese Wold National Park. The perfect base for exploring nature. Back to basics! No electricity or running water... but peace, privacy, and a fantastic view! - A fire pit, tripod, and Dutch oven. - A mini percolator for coffee and a kettle. - A cooler with ice packs, a camping toilet, jerrycans with water, and a gas burner. - A power bank is available for loan. Please note: Our dairy farm, with a company toilet, shower, and freezer, is a 500-meter walk away. Not near the cottage! Only a camping toilet is available at the cottage. Children aged 12 and up are welcome. Is the skybox available? Feel free to grab a cup of coffee and enjoy the view of the cows in the barn. Some kitchen utensils are provided. What more could you need? :P The hammock pictured is optional for an additional fee and based on availability. Wood for the fire pit is available for a fee. Rental is easily accessible. Please return the cabin and camping toilet CLEAN (so please empty the toilet yourself). There is also room for horses. Nature and surroundings: The cabin is located on the edge of the Drents-Friese Wold National Park and our dairy farm, where we keep 130 dairy cows, rent out a meeting room, and sell meat at home. The surrounding area offers abundant nature, as well as culture and history.

If they cancel between 14 and 30 days before check-in, they will receive a 50% refund. Otherwise they will not be refunded. This means that if you use the camping toilet, you also empty and rinse it yourself at our company. Dogs are allowed, but not loose on our dairy farm and certainly not among the cows in the field.

I am Aafke, a farmer's daughter and I live with my husband and 2 children on our dairy farm. When we were able to take over a log cabin from friends, I thought it would be great to put it on our land to be able to reflect every now and then, be alone undisturbed and enjoy beautiful sunsets. When I finally finished it after having invested quite a bit of time (and money) in it, I also thought it was a very nice place to share with others. Hence the rental! I did find it very exciting to rent out back-to-basics like that... but the first 2 tenants were super enthusiastic so that gives confidence. It is a great place, just doing absolutely nothing...

Tips

  • Walking in the Drents-Friese Wold. It is beautiful here; the bare dunes, Canada Lake and also further on the Fochtelöerveen or sniffing culture in Veenhuizen and Frederiksoord.
