Very nice and helpful hosts.
We were the only guests, which made the stay very nice and unique. It's quite an experience to wake up right next to goats and sheep. Chickens run around in the meadow. Sanitary facilities are very old, but ok for one or two nights. No separate toilets.

How was the contact with the host?
Nice contact

Tips for new guests?
Washing dishes is difficult, fresh water supply for motorhomes is difficult, large motorhomes are difficult to get through, recommended up to a height of 2.90 m

We cycled on the art cities route. Very beautiful circuit, well signposted. The Garden of Louis (former landscaper, pond specialist) was our second stop.

How was the contact with the host?
Very warm welcome from Louis in his landscaped, spacious and calm garden, surrounded by animals (chickens, goats, sheep). Very good toilets and showers. We appreciated the large greenhouse when it rained, to eat under cover. Thanks again.

Tips for new guests?
Recommended step to pitch the tent or come by camper van. Louis is a lovely host.

A very nice place! The first night just took some getting used to the planes, but this was fine in the end. I followed a two-day training in Leuven and public transport to Leuven was easy (bus stops in front of the door) and very manageable. It was a very warm weekend and it was wonderful to be so close to trees and greenery.

How was the contact with the host?
Louis was very friendly and helpful.

What a special stay! In the backyard of the friendly and warm Louis and Lieve. Only 3 places, leaving all the space for ourselves: of course to share with the free-roaming chickens. Simple facilities: but nice shower and toilet at home but separate. Perfect connection to Leuven, with a bus stop in front of the door. And therefore also in Brussels. Into the bargain: tasty apples that fall right off the tree! And: a fantastic rehearsal room for bands! So a great combination for inspiring camping and making music! Add a wood fire: perfect combination!

How was the contact with the host?
Louis and Lieve are top hosts! Adolescent son has learned a lot about chickens, goats and sheep. Extensive reception, warm, loving and personal. Thank you very much for your hospitality! And you are on our list!

Tips for new guests?
We enjoyed it immensely! But this is a place that requires the right appreciation: Go for sincere, a bit wild, on your own and authentic. Then you've got the top spot! And that with a top connection to Leuven and also Brussels. I don't know if Louis and Lieve can offer a combination with their rehearsal room: but otherwise: the ideal place for starting bands!

Beautiful place! After a packed beach campsite, it was an oasis of space and tranquility here. The sounds of (air) traffic are there, but disappear into the background with all that beauty. We had private sanitary facilities, simple but clean and functional. Leuven is within cycling distance.

How was the contact with the host?
We found Louis to be a very sympathetic, cheerful and somewhat philosophical man. His love for and knowledge of trees is an important aspect in the management of his land. The conversations with him were pleasant and educational.

Set back from the road, the 'Green Oasis' is full of surprises. The lovely couple, Louis and Lieve, received us friendly and full of enthusiasm. Immediately we were given an extensive tour of the beautiful self-built site full of goats, chickens and sheep, but also various fruit trees (you can pick your own fruit!), flowers and fish ponds. This site has been a fish pond garden center for years and Louis is still working in the garden with passion and conviction every day. It is nice to see how Louis is working 100% circular; nothing is thrown away. The bad apples go to the goats and sheep, leftover wood is used to make a campfire and the compost heap clears itself. It was wonderful to be sung to sleep by the frogs and to be woken up by the kids in the morning. There is also another pleasant surprise in the barn, named Freddy. To give away a tip of the veil, the animal can talk! ;) There is a nice, spacious shed for when the weather is bad. Louis and Lieve like to share their beautiful stories, but also give the guests their freedom and tranquility. The sanitary facilities can be improved, but equipped with all the basic comforts you need. All in all we had an unforgettable time and we can definitely recommend this unique place! :)

The Oasis is indeed very green. Many sunny spots but also many shady spots under beautiful green trees. There are goats and chickens and here and there beautiful flowers. We had a wonderful stay.
Plumbing was very basic and could use a facelift. But both toilet, shower and sink with hot and cold water were present.
Leuven is within cycling distance, via a separate bicycle path along the water.

How was the contact with the host?
Louis is very welcoming and friendly. He gave us a tour through the garden where we could choose a place for our camper van. There was a large indoor area where beer, soda and wine were cold that we could grab and sign off ourselves.

The site is ideal for camping with a camper, van or tent. If it rains or is a bit cooler, you can always go to the outbuilding. The goats and sheep are fun activities for the children: cross-country skiing together in the meadow.
The host and his wife also do everything to make the stay as good as possible. In any case, we felt very welcome there. Should we ever be in the vicinity of Leuven, we will definitely come back here to spend the night.

Quiet place to pitch your tent. It is only a pity that we did not know that between 8 and 10 pm sometimes a rock group comes to rehearse in the barn on the site. So close to our tent, where my three-year-old son tried to sleep. I had not received this information and it was not in the description on Campspace. A little disapointing!

How was the contact with the host?

Very quiet place in an unmaintained and somewhat messy backyard. Goats walk in (separate) part, but they do not cause any nuisance. Suitable for small motorhomes, caravans and tents (3 places).
Good cycling distance from Leuven (over 5 km).
Sanitary very basic. Doesn't look very neat, but if you look through it, it's fine to use. It is clean and shower gives a wonderfully warm powerful jet.

How was the contact with the host?
Friendly, flexible landlords, who can and can do just about anything (within reason).

Tips for new guests?
If you don't pay much attention to the appearance, fine place. If you are precise, you will be shocked by the plumbing.

I would like to tell you my story about our stay.
The area itself was beautiful.
But the facilities mentioned on the site are hardly available.
No Wi-Fi. No potable water. (And this with this heat) or payment. 2 euros per smooth
No electricity outside. (Not working anyway)
No outdoor seating, no indoor seating. Broken Shower.
Wednesday with the thunderstorm, the tent was flooding, the door to the inner part was stuck. The door closes at 8:30 PM. So, we didn't touch the food, drink that we had in the fridge there.
On Friday, the landlord drove down Gras all day and was busy with a chainsaw.
Saturday morning again.
Then I did respond, in a friendly way, but he came to respond in a brutal, rude way.

It is not ok to lie about facilities.
And with this weather no potable water is also not acceptable.

How was the contact with the host?
Ok at first, until we got to meet the person behind the friendly host.

June 2023 · Translated from dutch

Host Louis has responded

Dear An, We are sorry that you are so dissatisfied with your stay.
Here's a reply to your comments:
-Drinking water is available! We NEVER ask for money for a glass of water
-You have not requested electricity.
-You received 2 chairs from us to sit outside and you could use them to sit in the tent
-The shower has been renewed, if something was wrong there during your stay, we would have liked you to tell us personally and not in the review.
-During thunderstorms, the doors are only closed after 10.30 pm.
If your tent had been flooded it would have been very easy to come knock and we would have been happy to invite you in.
-The use of our fridge is not included.
-The grass was cut after 11 am because we assume that everyone is already awake. The chainsaw that the neighbors use is disturbing, but we cannot force the neighbors to work in their garden on their free Saturday. That's why you were so rushed and yet didn't feel like addressing us personally about it.
-You are the first campers to give us such a bad review! Sincere thanks for that!
