Activities
Canet-en-Roussillon Castle, a former viscounts' castle mentioned from the 11th century onwards and subsequently modified many times, stands on a hill north of the old village of Canet-en-Roussillon, in the Pyrénées-Orientales department.
Restaurant Vigatane is a unique gastronomic theatre, created by regional artists in a former wine cellar, with a central fireplace where grilled meats are prepared and served with tomato bread and aioli.
The Têt river originates at the foot of Pic Carlit, at 2,405 m altitude, in the municipality of Angoustrine-Villeneuve-des-Escaldes, flows west to east through the Pyrénées-Orientales department, first through Conflent, then Roussillon, and flows into the Mediterranean Sea on the municipality of Canet-en-Roussillon, after crossing the city of Perpignan. Its course is blocked upstream at Bouillouses (hydroelectric dam) and at Vinça (reservoir dam).
