About this location
In our haven of peace located in Huismes, near Chinon and 1.5 kilometers from the Loire à Vélo route, we offer several camping pitches, in a former pasture bordered by a stream.
You will be woken up by the birdsong, or by the sheep and Pepa, our donkey who is sometimes (often) in a mischievous mood.
A mill with its wheel turning at the end of the world, far from civilization.
The sound of water, greenery, a few domestic animals (sheep, donkey, geese, chickens... when the fox is willing to leave us some) or "wild" animals (nutria, beavers, herons, frogs, squirrels, dragonflies, kingfishers, etc.)... life.
Guests have access to covered areas for snacks in the mill courtyard, as well as a barbecue.
Near the toilets, we provide a refrigerator, a microwave, a hotplate, a toaster, a coffee maker and a kettle, dishes and pots as well as power outlets for charging phones, tablets, PCs and bicycles.
There are a few games available to keep young and old occupied... frog, ping-pong table and rackets, pucks, board games.
A fully equipped workshop is available for small repairs to bicycles or camping equipment.
We also have a small "emergency grocery store" for hikers who are "head-in-the-sight" or too tired to go out again.
In case of bad weather (which is so rare) the "Hangar" will offer you its roof to eat, write, read, play... in the dry.
And in case of very bad weather (almost never), we can also open "La salle aux meules", especially if there are little ones to occupy (board games... TV DVD player).
We have a Quechua 2 seconds and 2 places for emergency use (terrible weather for an early departure for example).
And even a three-seater of the same metal not far away...
Activities:
Superb hiking and cycling trails around the mill. Birdwatching in the nearby marsh. Tastings at local producers.
Within a radius of 25 km, visits to Chinon, Fontevrault, Candes St Martin, Rigny-Ussé, Langeais, Saumur, Azay le Rideau... among others are possible.
Treetop adventure course in St Benoit la Forêt.
Canoe or paddleboard trips are available on the Indre, Vienne and Loire rivers.
Guinguette 1.5 km away (closed Monday and Tuesday) and nice restaurant 3 km away (closed Sunday and Wednesday evenings).
Basic shops in Huismes (3 km) and Avoine (5 km).
