About this location

Welcome to Fred and Cora's. We welcome you to our large private garden bordering a meadow in a small, typical hamlet of the Haut-Doubs region. You'll have the place to yourself as we only accept one booking at a time. Come and enjoy an authentic setting in the heart of the Haut-Doubs in the Jura Mountains. Enjoy a south-facing aspect and beautiful views of the surrounding countryside, our traditional farmhouse dating back to 1733, and our former granary, converted for your comfort (kitchen). The property is near a dairy farm. Here, you won't hear traffic noise, only the gentle sound of our beautiful Montbéliarde cowbells. You'll be in the countryside with its advantages and disadvantages (the sounds of cowbells, tractors, and flies depending on the weather). Activities: Access to the GTJ (GR 509) is 300 meters away, offering hiking and mountain biking trails. A short walk from the Rochers du Cerf (Deer Rocks) with its diverse flora and fauna and magnificent views of the Bernese Alps (Jungfrau, 4,158 m; Mönch, 4,110 m; Eiger, 3,967 m). Downhill mountain biking, treetop adventure courses, and summer tobogganing are available in Métabief. A chairlift provides access to the summit of Mont d'Or, a 35-minute drive away. Numerous hiking trails are accessible from the property. Lake St. Point is a 35-minute drive away. Lake Taillères in Switzerland is 15 minutes away. Neuchâtel and its lake are 50 minutes away. The Cirque de Le Creu du Van in neighboring Switzerland is 40 minutes away. The Entreroche du Doubs gorge is 10 minutes away. The Chaudières waterfalls are 15 minutes away. The Saut du Doubs waterfall and the Doubs river basins can be explored by riverboat in 20 minutes. The Montbenoit Abbey is a 10-minute visit away. Visit the Château de Joux (25 minutes away). Visit a traditional Franche-Comté house in Grand Combe Chateleu (15 minutes away). Local cuisine: Comté, Morbier, Mont d'Or, Cancoillotte cheese, morel mushroom tart, Morteau sausage, and all sorts of smoked charcuterie prepared in our traditional smokehouses. Papy Gaby's smokehouse in Gilley. Pontarlier Anis. Morteau, Pontarlier, Switzerland. Other notes: We have an adorable Labrador. Here, there's no traffic noise, only the sound of our beautiful Montbéliarde cowbells and farm activity. There may be flies depending on the weather.
