Capital of the world's most prestigious brandy. The great houses (Martell, Hennessy, Rémy Martin, etc.) open their historic cellars to the public.
It has around 20,000 inhabitants and boasts a rich medieval and Renaissance heritage.
Must-see places:
• Saint-Jacques Tower, vestige of the medieval ramparts.
• Château des Valois, birthplace of King François I (1494) and today the center of the Maison Otard.
• Saint-Léger Church, a monument with styles mixing Romanesque and Gothic since the 12th century.
