About this campspace #s003600

Your host

Sara

Be welcome at our small-scale nature campsite in Hazerswoude village. We have an Araucaria nursery and are also delighted to receive travelers at the camping pitches.

The landscape around us is typically Dutch: green polder meadows, windmills, waterways and lots of water birds. We are surrounded by waterways and have rowing boats to discover the area from the water. We also have bicycles available to visit the polders, mills and surrounding farms. If you visit us by car, the cities of Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague and Utrecht can all be reached in 40 minutes. Smaller cities such as Gouda and Leiden are an hour by bike from us.

There are toilet and shower cubicles on the campsite for every two camping pitches.

There is a large shared space in the greenhouse where you can quietly read a book, use board games, do yoga or just relax.

A nice place! It was more of a campsite than we thought in advance, but in terms of atmosphere it was certainly not inferior. Everything has been thought of and there are a lot of facilities that you can use, making your stay very versatile.

How was the contact with the host?
Good contact, quick responses and friendly.

Tips for new guests?
Plenty of local products nearby, so it's definitely worth a bike ride around the campsite.

Nice parking space right on the water. Each parking space has its own hammock and two places share a toilet / shower hut. Everything very clean and well-kept. Bicycles and row boats are available. Very nice place in a great setting

How was the contact with the host?
Sara greeted every guest in a very friendly manner and asked for their wishes. We felt very comfortable with her

Tips for new guests?
Enjoy the time there, we will definitely be back.

Sara is a wonderfully relaxed host who wants to make you feel comfortable. Our dog was also happy that she was allowed to roam free and the gardener's greenhouse, which is furnished as a living room / kitchen, a nice refuge in rainy weather. And Leiden is nearby and highly recommended.

We were received with a big smile from Sole on arrival and later also met the owner. Both very friendly and welcoming. What a lovely place to unwind; large places to pitch your tent (or in our case camper) and even your own hammock! Unfortunately we were not really lucky with the weather, longer than 2 minutes was really too cold to lie in there. Fortunately we could warm up in the greenhouse, which is super cozy and even a lot of games to get through the evening! We were positively surprised by our own 'bathroom' next to the camping site and especially how neat it looked! In the morning we could just take a short boat trip (which turned out to be a bit more difficult than we thought) to enjoy the birds, lambs and peace. Highly recommended to go on the water, then you experience the area very differently! There are many tree/plant nurseries in the area and we have therefore scored some nice plants for home at the stalls in the area! In the greenhouse we did our own yoga class where there is really more than enough space for it and we were able to end the weekend in a zen way. Despite the rain and cold we had a really nice time here and we felt very welcome. We will definitely come back when it is warmer and we can enjoy the sunset in the hammock longer!!

Sara is a friendly host! Contact in advance went smoothly and she was immediately helpful. The Campspace itself is super! Good sanitary facilities, a nice hammock, beautiful surroundings. Nice that we could borrow a rowing boat and were able to use the barbecue twice. The greenhouse of the Campspace is nicely decorated as a living room. A nice place if the weather is not so good, luckily we had a lot of sun! Sara recommended the cheese farm Sol, tip for future guests, check Google for opening times. After our fantastic camping trip we were able to enjoy a nice piece of cheese afterwards. The second hand shop in the village is fun to visit.

The reception was very warm, the owner Sara even went to the village nearby to get arm floats for our children. The environment is beautifully green and watery (fun for rowing!). Unique set-up of the campsite between the horticultural businesses and growers. Nice chill spot in the green house. Our children spent hours there with the board games. Definitely a place to come back to!

We had an amazing stay at this mini camping and would recommend it to everyone who love nature! We come from Leiden which is only an hour by bike! Toilet, shower and sink with mirror were very clean and new (and private!). There was even light and electricity to charge. The space to camp is quite big with your own hammock. You can borrow a rowing boat to explore the neighborhood (we even swam!). Also we used the cool fireplace where we had dinner and sat the whole evening. There is a cool green glass house with vintage furniture, a lot of plants, games and books! You can even borrow bikes for free to cycle around. We drove to Boskoop to get lunch at a restaurant terrace! The nearest supermarket is 12 min by bike in Hazerswoude-dorp. The owner is also really kind and helpful. Thank you for the amazing stay and we would love to come back!

I spent a total of 3 nights at Sara's mini campsite. What a party! Beautiful, spacious place on the water, super hospitable host, nice to have a shower and toilet nearby and to share it with only one other place. We were able to use a rowing boat that took us to a windmill and DIY lock, the ultimate Dutch experience, super fun! There is also a fire place at the end of the site and we could read books, play games in the large greenhouse that has been converted into a living room; handy for when the weather is not so nice! I would recommend this campspace because it has everything you need and more..

The garden is a wonderful oasis of peace and beautiful nature. I spent a night there over the weekend with a friend. We sailed in the area, longboarded and walked and in the evening we had a delicious dinner with a setting sun + beer. In the evening we went to the campfire place (a huge lid of a grain silo upside down) and there we met the owners. A super nice young couple with a lot of enthusiasm and good ideas. I'm going again this month anyway. What a lovely place!

We had the best stay in years. Although it was just a weekend, it felt like a mini-holiday. We stayed in the cabin on the little private island, in the middle of beautiful and peaceful nature. The cabin is a bit dated, but still in good condition. Clean and tidy as well. The bed was a bit creaky, however very comfortable. Our dog had a great time running around, playing with branches, watching the birds, chasing butterflies. We could easily barricade the ‘gate’ to the island so the dog couldn’t escape. Everything was taken care of by our host Sara: towels, bedsheets, toilet paper, fresh fruit, mini “stroopwafels”, wood for the fire, candles, a rowing boat and more. We could reach Sara at any moment, before and during the stay. She responds quickly and is really helpful and friendly. Activities we would recommend: taking the rowing boat and discover the beautiful neighbourhood, BBQ and campfire in the evening, visit De Molen Brewery in Bodegraven, and visit Leiden. Tips for future guests: bring anti-insect spray and light the fire and citronella candles to scare away mosquitos; and keep the screen door closed to prevent insects from entering the cabin ;)

My experience camping at Tuin van Epicurus was great! Sara was very kind throughout the process and met us at the entrance to show us the spot and explain everything. The feeling you get upon entering the site is so homey and welcoming! The facilities are great and they have thought of little details that give a campsite just that little extra (large spots, pretty shrubs, more than enough toilet paper, soap, books and games..) there are rowboats and a great spot for a campfire... It was my dog's first camping trip so I was a little nervous but Sara was very kind and assured me I could bring her everywhere with me in case she got anxious. Needless to say; we had a blast (and a gorgeous sunset to boot!)

Sara was a lovely host. We felt welcome from the first second. She is very helpful. The camping places are spacious; they all have a hammock and there are boats available. The shower and toilet are next to your camping place, very easy! Also with bad weather, there is an option to sit inside, have a chat with other guests, play games, or cook. We definitely will recommend this to other people. Happy place, happy people! Thanks a lot!

We had a wonderful time at this campspace. Everything is scrupulously furnished: every visitor has their own piece of land along the water, so there is quite a lot of privacy. Toilet and shower are clean and quite spacious. The conservatory with board games and books is a great added value, but we were even more enthusiastic about the rowing boats: you can enjoy sailing and swimming in the area, in the middle of a beautiful landscape. Sara was also a very welcoming host. In short: highly recommended!

The camping site was great! I really liked that there was a hammock, that you could make free use of rowing boats and bicycles, that there was a large covered area and that you had a clean shower and toilet for every two camping pitches. Sara, the manageress, was super friendly. This place is really recommended!

Our stay with Sara was great! Spacious camping site in a beautiful location with only pluses: private sanitary facilities with hot water, hammock, rowing boats, bicycles that could be used and of course the large fire pit. We prepared our dinner there every day and enjoyed the sunset by the warmth of the fire. Sarah is a fantastic host. We could ask anything, smooth communication via Whatsapp and she provided extra wood for the fire. Even in times of Covid-19 we felt 100% safe. We will definitely come back!

We were received kindly by Sara who assigned our place. Very spacious places with your own hammock! All looks neat, good sanitary facilities and nice on the water. The area is great to explore by water or bicycle. At the place was a rowing boat that we could borrow for free and cycle to the village in the evening. Sara gave us tips and we had a nice and cozy meal in the village! Campsite itself is quiet, lots of space, definitely recommended. Also think of a top spot with less nice weather because they have a large common space in the greenhouse.

The campsite was really lovely. All camping spots are spacious and are located by the water. If you want to go to the supermarket, you can take the bike at any time without any hassle. A day of rowing is also possible without difficulty, grab one of the boats and put it in the water. You can then moor this boat next to your own camping spot. You can even go to the Albert Heijn by rowing boat, on the route you go through a lock, which I personally think is great.

Rules

Our site is a combination of camping, nursery and two wooden guest houses. To ensure that everyone can enjoy their holiday / workplace, we have a number of house rules to communicate before arrival!

Music
We are a nature campsite and offer our guests a peaceful stay.
We also have neighbors who we like to keep as good neighbours!
That is why we ask everyone not to play amplified music. The campfire can stay on all night, enjoy the sound of crackling wood and the birds!

Traffic Parking
Along the path is our campsite and part of our tree nursery. It is important to only drive on the paved path, unload things, turn around at the back of the land and park in our parking lot behind the greenhouse.
In this way we keep the campsite quiet, car-free and we protect cultivation ground.

Cleaning products
Our shower and toilet facilities are connected to septic tanks. To keep the micro-organisms alive, we use biodegradable cleaning products and shampoo. Shampoo, washing up liquid, all-purpose cleaner and toilet cleaner can be found in every toilet cubicle.
