Quiet, charming place on an old fishing pond, situated on the Schoten-Dessel Canal where cycling is beautiful. Westmalle Abbey is also within walking or cycling distance. Located next to the nature reserve Kooldries-Hoofsweer, ideal for a morning or evening walk. There is also a ping pong table under a shelter for rainy days, a hammock for quiet reading or doing nothing;) and a kub game. Noorderkempen station at 4,7km. Dry toilet provided. Waste can be left behind (sorted of course), drinking water can be refilled, also the possibility to use camping shower (in the wild or) by appointment. We all ask a small contribution for this. The terrain is ideal for getting rid of your van, car and tents. The veranda is rather an old canteen of the former fishing club. This is very spacious and ideal for shelter during the rain or a snack to eat. The busy paved road nearby and the highway, a little further, are audible. In the evening the sound of the paved road disappears, but you can still hear the highway.
The toilet was all you need. From the location you can take beautiful walks in the adjacent nature reserve or further explore the beautiful region.
If you are looking for 100% peace and quiet in a secluded forest, this is not for you. Would you like to relax in the green without being completely cut off from civilization? Supermarkets, bakery and chip shop within a radius of 2 km.
Tom and his wife were also extremely friendly and helpful! We will definitely do this again in the summer when everything has grown nicely. Hopefully the groundwater will rise again so that the pond will fill up again.
