About this campspace

Free camping in exchange for a job on our site (maximum 3 nights).

We are Juul, Tuur and Ellis. We also have Flint (dog), Kaatje (cat), Ben & Jerry (rabbits) and 4 chickens.
July 1, 2021 we moved from Rotterdam to Siebengewald. Since then we have been the proud owners of a handy house that stands on approximately 7000m2 of land.
From June 2021-October 2021 we have worked hard to make our house livable. We now have two bedrooms, Tuur's workplace and the living room ready.
A new roof, solar panels, Juul's workplace, the floor in the living room and the mezzanine, the outdoor sauna, are planned for 2022.
Next to our house is a beautiful piece of land with a large 'swimming' pond, croaking frogs, birds and our swimming pool.
It's basic. But you are more than welcome. You can borrow our BBQ and take a dip in the swimming pool (from May) or the natural pond.
There is a pottipot available and a shower bag. You can tap water from us and of course you can also get a bucket of warm water for washing dishes or freshening up.
Electricity is available, but given current energy prices, for a fee.

We have two spots.
1 place reserved for a camper bus / self-build camper.
We prefer not to see large motorhomes, motorhomes with an alcove.
In addition, 1 place for a tent (you).
It is possible that the places are both booked. So there is a chance that you are not alone on our site.

Within 10-30 minutes you will find various villages (Gennep, Nieuw-Bergen, Afferden) and within 25 minutes you are in Nijmegen. Within a fifteen minute walk or 5 minutes by bike you are in the Maasduinen National Park.
Next to our house is an N-road. There is quite a bit of local traffic, especially in the morning and in the evening. The rest of the day is not too bad for us, in the weekends it is quieter in terms of traffic anyway.

We ask our guests to do a 'concrete' job during their stay. These are mainly garden-related jobs at the moment.

Some of the jobs:
- dig up the sand of 'our beach and remove weeds.
- clear a designated part of the garden from weeds.
- Prune part of the hedges.
- Cut down some trees and saw them into small pieces.
- Pruning / felling bamboo forest
- Prune reed plumes
- Modify rabbit hutch so that our 'men' no longer fight.
- the vegetable garden, preparing the vegetable garden.
- the benches in the garden, sanding and again in the stain
- do you have a quality that you think will make us happy, that is also allowed, let us know in your message.

We hope to see you soon.

Greetings Juliet, Tuur and Ellis.

Myrte and I had a great experience! We stayed in a tent overlooking the pond. Every day we woke up with a beautiful view and surrounded by a variety of trees and plants.
During the day we enjoyed DIY, visited the picturesque town of Gennep and walked the Maasduinen. In the evening we enjoyed the evening sun in the fantastic garden or the vibrant atmosphere in Nijmegen.
We had a brilliant stay, a huge thank you to Tuur and Juliet!

How was the contact with the host?
We could count on passionate hosts and smooth communication. The hosts were present on arrival and departure and were available at all times. Moreover, their presence was perfectly balanced with our privacy.

Tips for new guests?
We recommend walking around the reservoir in the Maasduinen. This was our most beautiful experience.
Despite the beautiful location of our tent, I had some trouble with the street at night. I recommend bringing ear plugs.

Very beautiful and peaceful place. Really simple to come to yourself, while you can do some chores on the land. All very accessible and nice to get away from it all.

How was the contact with the host?
Super! They are very sweet, hospitable people and also flexible. Definitely a place where you feel at home.

I was 3 days (2 next) with the two. The area is super large and idyllic. I went cycling, fishing and hiking in the area which was very nice. I was able to help them both with chores around the house. The hosts are very friendly and nice. The dog is very playful and sweet.

How was the contact with the host?
Very nice and hospitable people.

What a great concept and what a nice family to stay with! I was there for 3 nights and I was active every day: cycling/walking in the green surroundings. They had come up with a nice job for me: pruning aquatic plants in the pond. Because it was so warm, this was nice and refreshing and it gave the necessary satisfaction because it was quite densely grown (20 wheelbarrows of plants taken out with the three of us, we made a good team!).
If you like to be active outside, this is a really nice place!

How was the contact with the host?
Excellent!

We enjoyed our night camping in Juliet and Tuur's garden. Very friendly, hospitable people who like to think along and have a nice chat. We were given wood for the fire so we could enjoy the evening on our 'private beach'. Early in the morning we took a cold dip in the pond and we were allowed to help Juliet with the animals.

How was the contact with the host?
Het contact was zeer goed, bij mijn mailtjes was er steeds snel antwoord.

Ook maakten zij geen probleem bij het even naar binnen wippen om iets te vragen.

What a beautiful environment and what a beautiful house and the story that goes with it. Hopefully we were able to make a good contribution to helping with the house. The kids absolutely loved it. We also enjoyed and found it nice to deliver such small amounts to the house.
Good luck with this beautiful house and the great garden.
And enjoy it and make something beautiful out of it . But I think it will certainly work .

Tell us about your experience
Besides camping in the yard as a kid, I never really camped with a tent.
So I was not prepared at all, but I was helped enormously hospitably.
Their garden is beautiful, with a nice big pond, and even a small beach with a fire bowl.
I went earlier than necessary (nothing to do with them), but I hope I can visit again in the future, and this time I'll try to be a little better prepared!

How was the contact with the host?
They are both very sweet hospitable people, with a cheerful daughter.
Despite working hard to turn their new home into a dream home, she responded quickly to my messages, and they both took the time to chat with the guests.

Tips for new guests?
I went alone for the first time, and of course found it very exciting. But as soon as I got there I felt safe, and had the feeling that if something happened or if I needed help, that I could knock on their door.

Hi Vera,
Know you are welcome next time.
Indeed, a little better preparation and a bit more 'tasty' in your own skin. Then it will be all right.
Nice that you were there.

Awesome place! The owners devided their garden into two parts: one for own use and one for their guests. We stayed at the “guest side” and it was great: a swimming pond, a pool and surrounded by nature. The only downside is that the house is located next to a busy road, but this wasn’t an issue for us (the garden is almost fully fenced). Thank you for your hospitality Juliet & Tuur!

Wonderful spot with people who are realizing their dream place, and who want to share this beautiful place with people like (you and) me.

The spot where I was allowed to stand gave a beautiful view of the pond with lilies, which Monet would not be averse to, really added value in terms of view ...

How was the contact with the host?
Nice contact, friendly people who think along with you and leave you more or less free in how and which job you take on.

I have, for example, hazing the beach on my own initiative.., soothing and a rewarding job.

Tips for new guests?
Don't expect any extra amenities except the basics, don't see it as a camping site but as staying with friends in the (spacious, beautiful) garden…

Have fun

We were looking last minite for a place to pitch our tent, something that was most like camping in the wild. Fortunately, we could go to Juliette. Although there is no sanitary facilities, we were able to set up our tent at their lake and were allowed to use their swimming pool or clean pond. It was a great experience, especially after hiking for 5 hours with a backpack on your back.

How was the contact with the host?
Very good. Once I got in touch with Juliette she was quick to respond and even offered to pick us up. because we were the first guests, we could use the toilet building in their house to be renovated. Very laid back people.

Tips for new guests?
A nice place if you don't have too many expectations yourself. For us it was a luxury, because we wanted to camp in the wild. If you actually want to go to a place where you want to be fully equipped, then this is not your place. Also I had some trouble finding the exact location initially. Only after payment will Campspace deliver this location to you (and the phone number of the host). That gave me some confusion, also because logging in was difficult.
