Backpack walkers and bicycle campers are our exclusive target group. If you come on foot, by bike or by public transport, you are very welcome at this idyllic spot. No car, so leave it at home. So indicate with your booking request how to get to us. You camp in our backyard and with your own tent you stand directly on the edge of the forest and on the edge of a quiet area in the National Park Utrechtse Heuvelrug. Very quietly situated on a dead end dirt road just 1 km from the center of Doorn. Enjoy a nice walk in the area and in the evening a cozy campfire. In the morning you will be awakened by the many bird sounds. And, if you're lucky, there's a deer by your tent. There is plenty of room, but we don't want more than 1 booking (max 4 adults 18+) at a time. The facilities are basic: compost toilet and cold water, except for the wood-fired Finnish sauna, which we can heat up for a small fee. You will receive (seat) towels from us. The shower is a spring water garden shower, which is only heated when the sun is shining. Public transport (bus) at 300m. Our campspace is close to stage 11 of the Trekvogelpad. Free WIFI. The site is non-smoking. Tips: Huis Doorn, Arboretum, Kaapse Bossen, Wijk bij Duurstede, Henschotermeer, Rosarium Doorn. Opening period 2023: April 28 to October 1.

We are nature lovers and live on the edge of a quiet area in the middle of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. We love camping and have a spacious garden with lots of privacy. We also have a dog, chickens and a few bee colonies. Our garden is a wonderful place for backpack hikers and bicycle campers.

The weather during our micro vacation was typically Dutch, but that didn't matter: the nature in this region was pretty nonetheless and the campsite in Mette and Paulus' backyard was comfortable, quiet and had everything we needed. This included fresh eggs from the privately owned chickens for breakfast.

How was the contact with the host?
Pretty good. Mette and Paulus seemed to be very friendly people.

Unique place in the spacious backyard of nature and camping enthusiasts. Thoughtful amenities. Pitch your tent on the grass, or in the shade of the forest in the garden. Lots of peace and privacy.

How was the contact with the host?
Friendly and helpful. I got a fresh egg and just picked tomatoes, delicious!

What a surprise the camping spot in Doorn was! I was able to put my tent in different places, chosen completely in the forest between the trees. Everything was fine, the fantastic shower outside, the compost toilet, the silence of the forest, the surroundings, the beautiful sweet dog, who occasionally came by, very quietly 😊 All space, peace and privacy, chairs, table, everything is there . Even eating by the campfire would be possible! And all this with lovely, hospitable residents in the background…if you have anything to ask.

How was the contact with the host?
Entirely right!!

What a lovely, peaceful place. Lots of choice to pitch your tent or to sit comfortably in such or shade.

How was the contact with the host?
Cosy. The facilities were briefly and clearly explained. We got farm fresh eggs for breakfast. We could go our own way. Too bad it was too hot to try the sauna.

After a long walk it was wonderful to settle down in their garden. Clean compost toilet and an adventurous outdoor shower that was nicely warmed by the sun. I could pitch my tent in several places and chose one that was a bit secluded in the woods.

How was the contact with the host?
Very friendly people. After a tour of the garden I didn't see them much anymore and got the privacy to take a shower and rest from the hike.

Tips for new guests?
There is a beautiful spacious place for a campfire. Or play with the dog now and then, he was very curious and cheerful.

Mette and Paul created the perfect get-away place! They though of everything you might need and more. Although they describe the facilities as basic, we experienced them as very comfortable :-) Going to the sauna after a bike ride and before getting into our chilly tents was a great experience, just as cooking on the camp fire! The location is great and convenient: near the village but surrounded only by the woods. The garden and campspace is spacious and private.

How was the contact with the host?
Very friendly, responsive and flexible people. Smooth communication. Gratefull that they are willing to share their little paradise with other!

Tips for new guests?
The garden has a lot of comfortable seats, so you don't need to bring your own. Cooking can be done on the campfire, so no stove needed either.

Cyclist tip: take the 'Let de Stigterpad' route over the Utrechtse Heuvelrug to or from here, it is beautiful.

We were here for the second time and it was just as fantastic as the first time. Very beautiful place with very good facilities, a great fire pit and well-stocked woodshed, a picnic table with a roof... Everything has been thought through. And then, as icing on the cake, the wood-fired sauna. Add to that the fact that Mette, Paul and their enthusiastic dog Runi are very nice. We will be coming back here regularly =) oh and the honey from their own garden they sell is super tasty!

How was the contact with the host?
Good contact, friendly and attentive, also during the stay they check every now and then whether everything is to your liking. But not intrusive in any way

Tips for new guests?
Bring food to put on the grill on the fire pit, delicious!

We camped here for two nights in a beautiful forest spot in the lovely backyard of Mette and Paulus. We had a lot of privacy despite it being a backyard. The area is beautiful for walking or cycling and there are many fine restaurants in the area. We really enjoyed our bushy spot, making fires, cooking over the fire, the sauna and rain shower. The sweet dog was a big bonus.

How was the contact with the host?
Nice both online and offline. They are very hospitable and thoughtful.

Tips for new guests?
Go camping here! It is very easily accessible by public transport, all facilities are nice and basic but nice and adequate, everything such as toilet paper, dishes, fire-burning equipment and cooking equipment is already there and the sauna is highly recommended too.

But this place is also equipped with everything;
Lovely campfire spot, outdoor shower, compost toilet, idyllic seating areas galore.
Dear people Paulus and Mette..…and… dog Roelie (we almost wanted to take him home 🫠)

Mette and Paulus are experienced campers themselves and this is reflected during their stay: everything has been thought of, from a covered picnic table to a sauna! Very nice stay if you want to retreat between the trees, but want to be within walking distance of a cafe and supermarket. To be repeated.

How was the contact with the host?
Very well. Mette and Paulus regularly come to inform you how things are going, but give you plenty of space.

Good communication with the host. We were well received with a glass of soda and an explanation about the place and the environment. Nice people with a beautiful garden on the edge of the forest. Equipped with a shower and Finnish sauna. Close to the center of Doorn but still the feeling of being in the middle of the woods.

Tips: Hiking, spotting deer, birds of prey and other forest animals. Eating out in Doorn, tree museum.

Very warm welcome even though we were late due to circumstances. Throughout the stay Mette and Paul were incredibly kind and helpful, occasionally popping by in the morning to check how we were doing. The place is pure magic. It lies beautifully in the woods and there are birdhouses everywhere. The mornings explode with birdsong. The hosts call the facilities basic, but truly it all feels very luxurious, with the beautiful and well stocked fireplace, with grill and dry firewood, the picknick table with roof and there's even a small kitchen sink. You can tell the hosts are very passionate, every detail is thought of without it feeling fussy like a bnb would. There is even a woodfired sauna. Then there's the hosts' dog, who is a cheeky delight. This is truly a unique place and we will visit many more times if able. There are great walks to be made and there are good cycling routes connecting to the woods of austerlitz and zeist etc. The Rosarium is very close by and a reasonably priced and cosy restaurant annex amusement Park (trampolines, mini golf). We also went to driebergen for go-kart, and I believe there is pitch and putt in driebergen too. We haven't really visited other things in Doorn.

When you live in the middle of the Randstad and are surrounded by large buildings, it is sometimes nice to take a break to seek out the tranquility of nature. This is exactly why my boyfriend and I wanted to camp on the Utrechtse Heuvelrug for a few days. This Campspace is located in the middle of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug and is therefore an ideal place to sleep for walkers, cyclists and families. Within a few minutes you can walk in the middle of the vast meadows or in the woods. The Campspace itself is also an ideal place; it is very quiet, shielded and very spacious. Hosts Mette and Paulus (and their cheerful Icelandic dog) give the guests a warm welcome. Their love for people and nature shines through. The facilities at the Campspace are also superb and everything is well maintained. In addition, the Campspace is very easy to reach from Utrecht Central Station, as there is a bus stop close to the Campspace; very nice if you don't have a car at your disposal.
In short, if you want to get away from it all in an environment that is easily accessible, but not too busy, this place is ideal. You can enjoy yourself for hours in the woods and the vast meadows, which for us in any case ensured that we returned home completely rested and relaxed.
