Meet Karin, your host

A warm welcome awaits Karin and Adrie in Avenhorn at the Mijzenhoeven, where the couple runs a dairy farm. In addition, their farm is a care farm. The tour is full of enthusiasm and love for the company. We have 65 cows, but also sheep, rabbits, chickens and horses. Our pastures are 40 hectares, so that our cows have plenty of space. Now the view from the camping location on the beautiful Mijzenpolder gives a wonderful feeling of space. The place is spacious in the vegetable garden. The picnic table is handy. There is provision for bad weather. The sanitary facilities for the camping guests are simple, but this is real camping. The sweet dog Rover comes to watch enthusiastically.

Karin and Adrie have a beautiful cow farm in Avenhorn. It has a separate flower garden with some perfect pieces of lawn to pitch your tent. Two picknick tables to make your supper and breakfast, and even and roofed table which you can use when it is raining. There are animals all over the place, 60 cows and when we visited a lot of calves, 2 horses, chicken, sheep, rabbits, cats and Rover (the sweetest cuddly dog alive). When we visited Karen an Adrie where not there, but we got a warm welcome from Roos, one of the employees of the care farm. Roos also let us feed the calves :). Bathroom is simple but clean. Views are wide and pretty. The local farmers that passed by on their bikes a waived at us and when we were preparing and eating our food, even wished us a tasty dinner!
We had great days in Avenhorn. The hospitality of Karin and Adrie was very good. Very friendly people! The camping spot is fine with a large picnic table. We chose a view of the horses. Toilet/shower facilities are basic but clean. We enjoyed the dairy cows and were also allowed to give the young calves a drink. My son would like to return so much; he liked getting so close to the cows. Great starting point for visits to Hoorn, Alkmaar, and Schagen
