Staying with Ernst should have been our last stop of our motorhome holiday. Unfortunately, that turned out to be slightly different and we left after a few hours, after we felt that we were not treated correctly by the owner.
It was our first time traveling with a motorhome and we were looking forward to the region where Ernst's campsite was located.
At the previous campsites we always had a great feeling of freedom and had hoped that this would also be the case with him. We had initially placed ourselves next to the sheep pasture, but in hindsight we thought it was not so ideal. Because we were the only ones on the campsite, we decided to move a little further, where we could better place our camper.
However, this was not to Ernst's liking. "When you make a choice, the choice has been made and you have to stick to your decision," she responded. The place where we stood would have been reserved for another camper. Did we know this? No! Did we know that this campsite worked with fixed pitches? No! Did we know that you could reserve a place? No! When we tried to make it clear to Ernst that this was a misunderstanding, we ran into a lot of misunderstanding. According to him, there was no room for discussion and we didn't follow the "basic rules of communication" (whatever that means) and according to him we clearly didn't know how the world worked...
I can understand somewhere that the owner works according to a certain principle and that he would like this to be followed as well as possible. But if he is too stubborn to listen and put the situation into perspective, then I have doubts about his idea of communication.
Because we didn't feel like spending our last days of vacation on the tips of our toes, we quickly decided that this was not the camping experience we were looking for. We quickly decided that we wanted to leave as soon as possible for another campsite and we did. That turned out to be the right decision.
I am sorry that our experience had to end this way. We felt more like a user of Ernst's land than a guest of Ernst and I don't think that's the intention. Shame on our money...
How was the contact with the host?
The contact in advance went very smoothly. The contact at the moment is spasmodic and one-sided.
Tips for new guests?
Maybe there was just no match between us and the owner, but through this review I want to warn people about a situation like this.
