Hi & Aloha, welcome at the airport! We live right on the little mountain called "Dolmar" and offer camping and sightseeing flights over the beautiful thuringia forest and landscape. Come and find out!
We welcome you with a tent, van, camper or motorhome. Your kids and four-legged friends are more than welcome too. Toilet, hot shower, electricity and laundry machine provide the necessary comfort. Or how about a campfire to end the day? We offer a fantastic view, hikes, nature and flight observation in a tranquil and peaceful environment.
We also run a small but cute bistro with refreshments and snacks you can enjoy on our terrace while watching the sunset.

Amazing place, especially for aviation enthusiasts like me :) We had a tent and Janine gave us options on where to put it, being able to also park the car near it for added comfort. During the night it's extremely quiet, and it's a perfect spot to observe the night sky. The restaurant is really nice, the prices are affordable and the staff is extremely nice. We will come back again for sure!

The host responded quickly to our messages and was really nice and helpful

Tips for new guests?
The only tip I have is that the first parking you see to the right on the right of the road leading to the airfield is not the one you'll be staying or parking at, continue straight on the unpaved road to find the actual camping space :)

When we arrived we got to choose our camping spot, so we chose a spot with a nice view over the valley. Fans of sport planes have the possibility to look out over the airport.
Toilets and showers were very clean.
Electricity was available at every spot.
The reception was located in a cozy family restaurant with great food, a 100 meter walk from the camp space.

We had a very nice one night stay at the big airfield. Unfortunately, we didn't see any planes take off and land, but we were able to watch from the mobile home how an airplane was dismantled for transport in the hangar.

The site offers space for several mobile homes, which can be connected directly to electricity there (with a coin slot).

There is a toilet house and showers, but we didn't go there.

The airfield has a very nice cafe/restaurant with super delicious food. Very comfortably furnished inside, plenty of space outside and a great view.

There is plenty for children to discover here and there is also some play equipment near the restaurant.

We'd love to come back.

Super friendly hosts, came to the mobile home as soon as we arrived and welcomed us.

As a family, we were able to slow down for three days in a beautiful place. There was a lot on offer for us and our children: Fantastic view, starting point for hikes, nature observation and exploration, peace and quiet, observation of flight operations, opportunities for fun and games (also within sight of the outdoor terrace), dogs (on a leash) are admired by our kids , culinary delights (regional delicacies/ dish of the day/ snack)...

Such a special spot. Unbelievable people, who have been supercool. I could have booked a flight with Anton across the area of Thüringer Wald but I ran out of time and missed it. Parking on a real big field right beside the little airport. Electricity available. Nice bathroom with shower and toilet. Even a washing machine was there. No noise until the first trikes start at 8 am. Nature pure. And the Restaurant beside was absolutely nice. Very good food and drinks. Coffee in the afternoon. I sure will come back to Kühndorf. Thanks to Janine & Anton for this special experience. Lovely.
