If the tenant (his family members, his guests or allowed visitors) does not comply with the obligations under the terms and conditions and the house rules, the landlord has the right to terminate the agreement with immediate effect and to deny the tenant and co-tenants access to the domain, without refund of rent. This also emphatically includes not respecting a night's sleep (silence after 10 p.m.) or causing unnecessary nuisance.

THE LOCATION
Welcome to the Lodge op de Berg domain, located in Bree on a beautiful piece of land of over 2.5 hectares, a dream location in the rolling countryside of Limburg! On the domain, Gaëlle and Thierry let their guests fully enjoy themselves and reconnect with the better outdoors.
There are two lodges (holiday homes) and a private house on the domain. In spring and summer, Gaëlle and Thierry offer a unique camping spot on the large meadow on top of the hill for guests who are looking for a special and quiet place to stay in nature. The camping spot is located about 250m away from the lodges and the private house.
The camping spot is almost wild camping, but with the luxury of a nice compost toilet (on the camping spot) and a unique outdoor shower (located 300m away from the camping spot) with wonderfully warm water. Eco-friendly shower products are provided.

On the camping pitch itself there is also a large terrace with a view over the steep ridge and the pond. You can also fully enjoy the beautiful starry sky. There is also a fire bowl with firewood available for socializing. In the evening you sometimes hear the tawny owls calling and bats dance above your head. You fall asleep to the sound of the crickets. Very often you can even spot deer crossing the domain. Simply delicious!

Gaëlle and Thierry also offer a regional breakfast (extra charge) if desired.

AREA
The domain is located near cycling and walking routes. Bicycles can be rented at e-bike 2 rent. Beautiful short and long-distance walks also start from the domain, right through nature. Gaëlle and Thierry have mapped out a few walking routes for their guests on an app. Supermarkets and the pleasant center of Bree with restaurants and bakeries are only 1.5 km away.

Tips

  • Water fun with our lovely dogs in the pond! They are always there and love to play with children!

  • Spot the game from the deck early in the morning or late at night. Already spotted: tawny owls, roe deer, heron.

What an enchantingly beautiful place! Beautiful camping site in the middle of nature. There is a beautiful spacious wooden terrace with picnic tables overlooking the pond. Fantastic!

How was the contact with the host?
Upon arrival, Thierry was waiting for us and showed us how to ride on the meadow. Hosts were easily accessible at all times and gave us tips for our stay (such as the wonderful Italian caterer Piano Alto who delivered a delicious dinner to the campsite) and mapped out walking routes.

Tips for new guests?
The walk to Orshof is highly recommended.

I went away with a comrade to escape from all the hustle and bustle in the hope of relaxing for a while… and this was more than successful!

How was the contact with the host?
Super friendly welcome!
We came camping with the tent but there was a potential small storm front coming, where she immediately suggested to come and shelter in 1 of the 2 lodges that they also run. Fortunately, the storm did not materialize and we were able to fully enjoy the short camping trip!

Two years ago, Thierry and Gaëlle were given the opportunity to buy the meadow adjacent to their own property. The plan is to turn this site into a food forest and to create 3 camping spots in it. It is not that far yet, now it is still a meadow. A decking has already been realized with a picnic table on it. Also perfect for doing yoga! If it is not too dry you can also make a fire there.
From the decking you look out over the pond where you can basically swim. In time, this may also become a real swimming pond. And if you're lucky, a deer will pass right in front of you!

You have a compost toilet to yourself and behind the main house is a fantastic shower, also for you alone. The water immediately flows into the ground, which is why there are ecologically responsible shower products ready for you.
From your spot you make a beautiful walk of about 7 km. First on small country roads, where every now and then a car passes, but soon you dive into the Itterdal. A beautiful, varied walk!

How was the contact with the host?
Very good. Thierry and Gaëlle take the time to chat with you and are happy to give you tips about the area.

Fantastic place, wonderfully quiet and lots of space. Beautiful deck on the hill where you can sit comfortably and look out on the water. There is a toilet and a shower a minute's walk away. The landlord provided a fire bowl and also had some wood ready. There are chairs and a picnic table. In short, luxury camping in a beautiful private area.

How was the contact with the host?
Contact was very good and responded quickly.

Tips for new guests?
The sun was already on the tent early in the morning. So keep in mind that you wake up early.

In general, we had a nice stay in Limburg. The surroundings are beautiful and on the grounds you can enjoy a beautiful view. In the evening we could enjoy a nice campfire.

A wooden platform has been made on which you have a nice place to sit and enjoy shade in the afternoon. Unfortunately, you cannot put your tent on such a platform.
The rest of the terrain is not flat and the pitch has sun all day long. We were unlucky that it was quite warm.

Furthermore, it is difficult that there is no water supply at the camp site itself. Washing dishes is therefore no evidence. We had to do this with a water bag, which is not really handy.

The location is very nice. But the cost, we paid just under € 170 for 2 nights with 3 people and wood, is not in proportion to what is actually a simple (but a beautiful) camping spot.

How was the contact with the host?
The host himself was on leave, but provided worthy replacements so that we were very well received. The contact also went smoothly.

Tips for new guests?
Visit wine estates nearby.

Beautiful location, really beautiful and relaxing.
We did think it was very pricey for what you got. We wanted the fire bowl, which was 5 euros extra each time, while we had already paid 128 euros for 2 nights, with minimal facilities. It is also somewhat inviting if you simply facilitate this free of charge. All the lights hanging on the deck did not work and no lighting towards and on the compost toilet.

We also found the outdoor shower very nice and nice, but there was little privacy. The tenants of the house who were having a BBQ outside could see our upper bodies while we were showering. You also couldn't close the doors.

How was the contact with the host?
Good at first. We responded quite late and when we left we went to their house to thank them and give them possible tips. Daughter opened the door, parents were home, but she didn't go to get it. We have asked this twice. I also contacted via app, but unfortunately no response. This was very disappointing to us. Too bad we have had many better experiences, including tips in the area.

Tips for new guests?
There are much more beautiful camping locations for less money and more facilities.

Host Gaëlle has responded

Hello Natasha,

First of all, I would like to thank you for sharing your experience and feedback about your recent visit to our camping spot. We appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts with us.

We are very sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations. We take feedback like yours very seriously as it helps us to continually improve and refine our services. We understand from your feedback that the stay was pricey in relation to what you expected. For the price of €55 per night that we ask, you will receive an exclusive camping spot at a unique outdoor location, where you are completely alone, without any nuisance from other guests in the vicinity. The location is equipped with basic comfort consisting of a warm outdoor shower, a compost toilet, a magnificent wooden deck, beach chairs and a picnic table.
We therefore do not offer a (mini) campsite with different camping pitches where sanitary facilities and space are usually shared. With us you can enjoy a piece of landscape where further investments are made every year in more nature development. We want to offer that decor to our guests who choose our place.

We therefore consciously choose 1 camping spot instead of different places. This allows us to respect the peace and balance with nature. Most guests who stayed with us this summer consciously looked for and selected a camping spot with these advantages: being completely alone, without other camping spots and in nature. They found the price to be very fair and in line with their expectations in relation to the uniqueness and exclusivity that we can offer with this landscape.

We hope this has given you some nuance to the price.

Kind regards,
Thierry and Gaëlle
