About this campspace

We are Ellen & Nico and we would like to welcome you to The BEE Garden 🐝, our ecological garden of 3,000 m² to spend the night and enjoy all the beauty that nature has to offer. 🌸🌱

We only accept 1 booking at a time, making you the only guests staying overnight in the garden. We do rent out a guest room, so it is possible that those guests also enjoy the garden for a while.

🍏 🦋 When purchasing the house, we started from the existing old orchard with apple, pear trees and cherry trees and we have built it over the years with new fruit trees and shrubs, large vegetable garden, pond, wild flower meadow and flower borders especially for different pollinators. We also have a pony, goat, a few chickens, 2 cats and 2 lovely dogs.

⛺ 🚙 You can come and camp with us in the garden with your own tent, camper or caravan or you can choose to stay overnight in our furnished glamping tent. It's a Sibley 450 Pro Tech. These tents are made of high-quality, durable cotton. The cotton ensures that the tent can 'breathe' and that it is wind and waterproof. The Sibley 450 pro has a diameter of 4.5m and a surface area of 16m². This gives you more than enough space in the tent.

🔥 🎯 To make it a fun and cozy time, we also have a fire bowl, petanque court, old wooden kicker table, darts board, Kubb and a suitcase full of games for young and old. In bad weather, it is also possible to camp, have a barbecue and spend some time under the half-open old hay barn.

🥾🚴‍♂️ In the area there are several nature reserves with mapped out walks. We are also close to the Flemish Ardennes with well-known bicycle climbs such as the Muur, Bosberg, Molenberg and Berendries. Also plenty of nice mapped out mountain bike trails. These routes are all part of the South-East Flanders mountain bike network, with a total of 490 continuous kilometers of mountain biking through the South-East Flemish nature!
We are happy to provide you with more detailed information and plans.

🚿🧻 For our campers we have a separately accessible, new bathroom with toilet, sink and shower. There is also drinking water, electricity and a fridge available. Everything is accessible even when we are not at home.

A number of extras can be booked at the end of the booking, but these can certainly also be agreed on the spot.

The guest room was also super neat and tastefully decorated with an accompanying kitchenette in a separate room especially for the guests. We were really happy with our stay in the bell-tent in Ellen and Nico's garden. We visited with our dog who had a great time roaming freely on their property and playing with their dogs. Despite freezing temperatures one night, we stayed very warm thanks to their excellent cold weather blankets. The first night we really enjoyed building a campfire in their firepit looking out over the open fields and setting sun. The second night we roasted marshmallows over the fire in the covered open barn area. Added space heaters made it feel extra cosy. In the mornings, the breakfast add-on was the perfect way to enjoy a slow start to the morning. We had pleasant conversations with our hosts as they went about their business gardening and tending to their animals. We wanted to explore the surrounding nature with a long walk and received useful advice and extra information about routes to take. We chose the Vierbossen wandeling and found it really picturesque. All in all our hosts were very laid-back, easy to talk to and incredibly hospitable – couldn't have asked for a better experience!

You have a lot of privacy and a lot of facilities at your disposal such as shower, toilet, a sitting area, beautiful garden with terrace and fire bowl, ... in short, everything you need for a nice outing, whether it is short or long. Ellen & Nico are two very jovial people with the 'natural' heart in the right place. They run their campspace very well and you immediately feel at home. They are happy to answer your questions and also give a lot of explanation. The information folder they provide is really great and proves that they have a heart for their own environment and want to share this with their guests.

Tips for new guests?
Be sure to order breakfast because it is very tasty and extensive. What is also highly recommended is the Chamois Walk, of which you determine the distance yourself. There are still nice walks in the area or bike rides, but then you'd rather have better weather than we had. But even with bad weather this is a nice campspace. Who knows, there may soon be a 'bees' course because it is simply the 'place to BEE' :-). Their honey already tastes like more.

Our initial holiday plans got cancelled due to the rise of COVID-19, so we decided to stay within Belgium using Campspace.

That’s how we ended up in the beautiful garden of Ellen & Nico.

We received a very warm welcome, and during our complete stay (4days) there wasn’t anything we couldn’t ask.

We ordered the breakfast daily, which was delicious and consisted homegrown products. And we finished every evening with a bonfire, which they also provide.

We are definitely going back ASAP!

It was wonderful to relax in the beautiful garden of Ellen and Nico. The garden is very spacious and there are great trees, which is great. The whole location with barns, outbuildings and spacious entrance with cobblestones is very beautiful and authentic. We didn't have a drop of rain and so we didn't have to take shelter while camping, but we really appreciated the cozy sitting area in the open barn anyway. The bathroom is also absolutely luxurious. The breakfast was delicious and so generous that we could eat several meals. Unfortunately we missed the homemade granola: it lasted for the last time and then diligent tidying gnomes turned out to have cleaned up everything. The wider area was great for walking and cycling. If you are sensitive to noise, you should take into account the noisy activities of the neighbor (a horticultural company with motorized machines), who starts his working day before 7 am.

We do indeed clear up the breakfast shortly before noon, but we always ask whether the things that have not been eaten should be left or not.
