MiguelA 7 hectar farm situated in the Mondego Valley in Portugal continental highest mountain the Serra da Estrela, near Guarda the 1St big city after the border of Vilar Formoso, in a straight line from Salamanca in Spain, only 150km away. We are in the middle of a mountain slope hence the name "Quelhas" \nterraces. We farm organic but not certified and we have 5 donkeys, chickens, turkeys 3 lovely dogs, so your animals are also welcome. We provide vegetarian vegan meals since I'm a vegetarina vegan chef. We also have bees so, yummy honey, from the valley. Multiflora and mainly the dark one chestnut/oak. Lovely. The fauna is mainly birds but there boars, foxes, badgers and plenty more, we want to believe. The flora is oaks, chestnuts, cherrys, almonds, apples, olives, amongst other trees and bushes. We have a paraglide take off at the farm and another one on top of the mountain. If you fly this is the best spot in Portugal since the best \ntake offs are less than a hour away. Boulders and climbing spots are also available in the farm and very near in the valley, so bring your climbing shoes. The dam in Caldeirão can be a good spot for kayaking (1 avaiable) as can the Mondego river itself with great hidden spots for a swim and oficial beaches with facilities for people with disabilities. We can provide you with farm experiences, from olive picking to oil making, cherry-picking, animal handling, vegetarian workshops, beekeeping, Portuguese stick fighting, plus the typical festivities experiences like popular saints or traditional happenings. We also have a Vast knowledge on portuguese Traditional Games and practices so amusement is always available the way our grandfathers did. The surrounds are full of "Aldeias" hamlets very typical and beautiful, there's also some places of interest in the mountain like the places were people lived and hid from the Napoleon invasions, the Roman road, the Tintinolho a copper age "Castro" is right in front of our farm in the other side of the valley, the weaving museum where the typical shepherd blankets are made, also less than 30 minutes away, the UNESCO classified open-air paleolithic art of Foz Coa is only 1 hour away and the network of "Aldeias Historicas" is only 1 1/2 hour all of them. Not to mention the Parque Natural da Serra da Estrela, we are on it!Guarda is a city with a gorgeous "Manuelino" Cathedral, and a nice periferic view from its castle tower. Famous for its pure air it held the famous \nSanatorium during the turbeculosis epidemia. Come and visit the Mondego Valley. Njoy the Mountain.
