Your host

Danny

You will find our Campspace on our own road in Bornerbroek, in the middle of the beautiful country of Twente. Enthusiastic about our own (roof) tent holidays, we like to share this place.

Here you can enjoy the peace and nature, walk barefoot through the morning dew or just go out. Our house is located in the nature reserve 'de Doorbraak' near the Nijreesbos.

In the meadows around our house you regularly see deer, hares, rabbits, pheasants, many birds and also the sheep of the neighbors. In addition, our chickens (Max, Bliksem, Kota, Fluffy, Blacky, Flanny, Rooster, Maximus, Merel de Wit, Buffy, Johanna, Baardmans, Kato, Giraffe and Boeboe), cats (Musj & Wilhelmina) and our dog (Ares) are foraging. around the yard.

You will discover the area through one of the many walking/cycling/MTB routes, two of which pass our house.

In the pleasant center of Almelo (5 km) there are a number of cultural hotspots such as the Wevershuisje, the Bolletje Museum, the City Museum and Huize Almelo where the current count lives. You will also find fine restaurants and cafes. On the other side of our house you can discover the surprising town of Delden (10km), where the Salt Museum is located. There is also Landgoed Twickel with beautiful gardens and walking/cycling routes.

To enjoy the crackling wood fire and the accompanying singing, you can borrow a fire bowl and buy some. wood with us. You will have to sing yourself.

Within walking distance (500m) is a fine Twente restaurant with a mini golf course. So if you don't feel like cooking, want to grab a nice drink on the terrace or hit a ball, you can!

Our sanitary facilities are deliberately basic: we offer cold water and a compost toilet.

We enjoyed our stay with Danny very much! The place is behind a shelf meadow, next to the chickens and a vegetable garden. If you come with a campervan you have the whole place for you and even a private toilet (compost). There is the option to borrow a fire pit – we enjoyed the campfire every night.
There are plenty of hiking trails in the area and there are also plenty of cycling routes.
We will definitely come back when we come to Twente again!

How was the contact with the host?
The hosts are very friendly and hospitable people. And Ares, the dog, is a sweetheart too! You will receive all information about walking routes, cycling routes and things to do in the area in a folder on arrival.

A super nice place, hidden between the trees is the large yard where you can enjoy the beautiful surroundings in peace. We spent a wonderful evening and day with Bonnie & Danny in the garden.

How was the contact with the host?
Quick response to our last minute request to drop by. Thanks for the warm welcome and the nice vibe. The information folder with routes and places of interest in the area and the sharing of the fire bowl and wood to make a nice fire was much appreciated!

Nice spot there in the outskirts of Almelo! Enjoyed the spring sun. And in the colder evening (it was freezing at night) a nice fire was lit with the wood that was ready for me. Wonderful micro adventure, nice basic camping. Went home with a smile.

How was the contact with the host?
Very well! Quick response to the booking and I was able to come the same evening even though they were both not at home. Everything was ready, with a warm welcome note. Very attentive. In the end, both hosts were still met and talked to. Nice relaxed conversations. That is that little bit extra when you are in someone's garden.

Tips for new guests?
Light the fire, of course. I let the cold pool pass me by, it was already cold enough in the tent ;-)
And of course just book this campspace!

We had a very relaxing stay in Danny's garden. The chickens and sheep were close by and otherwise it is very quiet. We explored the area by bike.
Nice that a fire can be lit.

Great, Danny is nice and helpful.

Spontaneous night of winter camping in Twente. Great fire pit with wood available for being brave enough to camp in the cold.
Waking up by the crowing of the rooster and then a quick dip in the freezing cold pool.
Compost toilet was new and comfortable, much nicer than I expected!
The only downside is that you can still hear the highway well and have light from the city.

How was the contact with the host?
Quick response from the host, nice reception and we were well looked after!
Because the outside tap was closed, we were allowed to get water in the house.

Scout Paulien About the scout program

Tell us about your experience
A fantastic base for adventures in the Almelo area. You are close to the city, but you sleep on a neatly mowed field with a view of the meadow, the vegetable garden and the chickens. Wonderfully quiet :) The hosts are super friendly and thoughtful and have made a folder with fun things to do in the area. It felt more like going to bed with friends in the yard than going to the campsite. We will definitely come back for a longer stay!

How was the contact with the host?
Perfect!
