Ilse

We are Ilse and Jan, a biologist and forester with a passion for nature, travelling and camping. We live in a small village on the edge of a large forest. We offer a complete glamping facility where you can enjoy the wildlife as well as the comfort of a real home.
In the forest you can make wonderful walks or bicycle tours. From the tent you often can spot deer. In the evening you can hear the owls calling and bats are dancing over your head. You will fall asleep with the sound of the crickets. You can cook yourself in the summer kitchen or we can give you some tips for good restaurants nearby. Sanitary facilities: near the tent there is an private outdoor shower and a private compost toilet. On the meadow there is a mobile bathroom with shower and sink. The mobile bathroom is shared with camping guests if there are. There is a separate dry toilet for these camping guests.

The glampingtent is available from May 12 to September 12 2021.
The glampingtent offers sleeping accommodation for up to 5 people.
Minimum stay 2 nights.
Check-in from 3 PM.
Bedding and towels for the kitchen included.
You only need to bring your own towels for the bathroom.

Beside the glamping tent, we also offer two campspaces for a tent or camper. Water, electricity, toilet, hot shower, eco-friendly dish- and showerproducts are included.
Check-in from 1 PM.
In the low season (September 13 - May 11) camping guests can use the kitchen as well. There is also a small stove for the colder mornings or evenings.

There is a small supermarket and bakery at 2 km.
We speak Dutch, English, French and German. Dogs are not allowed.

We wish you a warm welcome!

Ilse and Jan

We are a couple in their thirties who started our first campspace adventure together with our children aged 4 and 2.5 and a friendly couple with small children. We had our eye on the micro campsite of Ilse and Jan and we have not regretted it. This micro campsite had everything we were looking for: peace and quiet, beautiful nature, basic comfort (toilet and shower, limited electricity) and above all the possibility to keep a campfire. A sustainably thought-out mowing land (instead of a trimmed lawn) next to a meadow of sheep, on the edge of a large forest, formed our camping site. When the world turned off the lights, various animal sounds came from this forest.
All this contributed to an (especially for the children) adventurous camping experience that resembled wild camping. The children had plenty of room to play and in Jan and Ilse's garden they soon found the trampoline and play equipment.

How was the contact with the host?
We first had contact with Ilse. Via chat we received an answer to all our questions very quickly. Also on arrival Ilse made herself known as a pleasant hostess. After we had set up our tent, Ilse also came to see if everything was in order.
As a forester Jan, in turn, told us about plants, animals, mushrooms, something we could certainly taste.

Tips for new guests?
A visit to Alden Biesen, barefoot path Lieteberg are fun activities in the area.

Excellent! Very smooth communication and a warm welcome. We could go to them with all our questions, but they also gave us plenty of space to be on our own. A wonderful weekend away on a quiet and beautiful domain with cute goats, chickens, turkeys, a peacock and a beautiful dog. A super cozy camping spot and a clean sanitary 'wagon'. Perfectly what we needed.

The host had prepared a few interesting brochures with fun trips and activities. It is also near the Hoge Kempen National Park where it was very quiet and we went for a long walk.

We really enjoyed our camping trip on Ilse and Jan's meadow!
The location is fantastically beautiful and quiet; when the sun came out we thought we were in the south of France!
The area is also great for children: there are small goats, a dog, swing and trampoline and plenty of space to play. All facilities (outdoor toilet, bathroom, possibility of cold local beers) are tip top!
We will definitely come back camping again!

Rarely has a campsite been as good as 'De krekelwei'. We love the peace and nature and we have found that here.
Hostess Ilse was super friendly, gave a lot of explanation about what to do including tickets and plans.
This micro campsite is located on the edge of the forest where the cycling network also starts.
We cycled to the barefoot path and Alden Biesden Castle.
The children thought it was fantastic to watch the animals, they were also allowed to walk around and play everywhere.
we are already looking forward to our next stay.

Very sweet lady who even prepared tourist brochures for us. A compost toilet and shower was available. What struck me most was the beautiful location, next to a forest at the end of a continuous street. Highly recommended!

We had a great time with Ilse and Jan. A very nice camping spot under the oak tree and with a view of the sheep made it complete. Ilse is a very nice hostess who occasionally checks if we need anything. An absolute must for anyone who likes being in nature.

In Bilzen, we enjoyed a very friendly welcome, quiet environment and beautiful nature around us. We went cycling through the water and had an ice cream in the summer bar near Alden-Biesen.

Heavenly camping in Bilzen! It is even more beautiful than the photos show. We were received very warmly by Ilse and Jan. I had indicated in advance that we would come for walking and cycling and we immediately received the necessary information about these upon arrival. The camping spot under the oak is a nice spacious and quiet place. There is electricity and water on site and the sanitary facilities are excellent! The area is ideal for walking and cycling or just enjoying the wonderful peace and quiet on the camping spot. Ilse and Jan deliberately keep it small-scale, which gives it just that little bit extra. Highly recommended this place!
