A wonderfully spacious campsite, in the middle of nature. We had 6 very nice days with our 3 children and dog. Plenty to do in the area and they could play very nicely in the stream near our tent.
How was the contact with the host?
Great, both are immediately ready to help or answer questions. Friendly and jovial.
Tips for new guests?
There are many beautiful lakes in the area to cool off.

A wonderful place, standing on a flowing stream with waterfalls. During the week I was even alone - as if you were wild camping with the luxury of a toilet and shower within reach. How nice it is when no activities are held and no music is played: only silence can be heard.
How was the contact with the host?
Fine. Warm welcome.

Don't be put off by the appearance of the area. Many pine trees in the Harz are affected by a small creature, the spruce setter. Yet that gives other trees and shrubs the chance to grow, which will certainly make the hills green again. The campsite itself is like a green oasis.

We've loved staying at Harz Hideway surrounded by so much breathtakingly beautiful nature! We where surprised to see so many tiny houses on the site, this wasn't really explained on here! Because of the tiny houses and also the amount of pitches this camping doesn't classify as a mini camping in our opinion. Once we got used to this though we didn't mind this and because of all the greenery on site the camping doesn't feel huge at all! Some amenities (the Inn, swimming pond, the cozy fireplace lounge in the lounge) are not quite ready for use yet but I trust that those will soon be available!

Nico is very friendly! Because of how big the site is, he is probably very busy so we didn't see him very much. But within the opening hours you could find him in the kiosk!
Tips for new guests?
This is the perfect place for families with young children! If you have a mountain bike you will thoroughly enjoy Harz Hideway and the surrounded nature! There are some very nice trails! Don't forget to order some warm buns in the morning for breakfast!

Actually quite OK. But for this price I would have liked an answer to my email and a contact person on site.

First positive: Nico was very friendly.
Than the rest.
This campsite (or the various companies that arrange camping and the tiny houses) is very good at keeping up with social media and determining and propagating a house style. This is how I was (simply) convinced to book a camping spot for 11 nights. Nico can't help it that these were the wettest 11 nights on a campsite for our family. But the fact that the besenkammer of which so many beautiful pictures can be seen on insta and facebook and campspace and the campsite website turns out not to be open to guests at all is the choice of the campsite. What a huge bummer. In the rainy Harz there was no shelter for camping guests at this campsite. Nico did tell us that within a few years there might be a berry comb for camping guests. Well. There was also nothing to see of the beautiful picnic backpacks. The sandwiches you could buy were overpriced. The plumbing was, well, just adequate? It was mislocated, the doors in the showers were poorly installed so the locks didn't work properly, the paint on the painted tiles and floors was peeling off again,... It was done rather amateurishly, as if a novice do-it-yourselfer the battle had been. That said, the showers themselves were nice and warm, which made up for it. The overall picture of the campsite: nothing was well finished or ideal. And for the price we paid, namely that of a finished campsite, that is not entirely fair.
How was the contact with the host?
Nico was very friendly but actually doesn't intervene much (not enough). This weather was definitely not ideal for camping, but the camping host is hardly visible on the site.
Tips for new guests?
I just wouldn't book this campsite. It's not the hideaway paradise you see on social media.
