About this campspace

It offers private camping for all ages. Nestled on 74 acres, our working farm also has areas and pastures that are great for primitive and private camping!
Camp next to the pond, or next to the horses... The choice is yours.
Our camping area is over a hill, so you won't see any people at your campsite.
Feel free to use our grill, kayak our small pond, or enquire about taking a guided horse ride!
Want to bring your horses? No problem.
We've got a few extra stalls or pastures, so feel free to bring them!
You can even purchase bacon and eggs grown right on our farm for breakfast!

While you're here, you're welcome to meet and feed the calves, goats, lambs, sheep, horses, and alpaca, collect chicken eggs, and learn all about livestock and safety on a farm.

We have a clean porta-potty for use right at the campsite, and for your convenience we offer firewood bundles for sale so you can be ready to go as soon as you arrive!
We even have shirts, sweatshirts, and hoodies available to purchase.
If you purchase ahead we will have your gear waiting for you at your campsite when you arrive.
Decide you need it once you get here? No problem.
We will run it down to you when you need it!

Rules

It is a small-scale diversified centennial 74-acre farm in Central Illinois and owned by Joe and Tara Moore.
The farm does not just produce one or two products like a typical farm, instead it operates more like a homestead and produces a multitude of crops and livestock which support each other using permaculture and other organic methods. We have a strong focus on agri-tourism and education.

In 2019, we opened our farm to campers.
We are avid campers ourselves, and wanted an opportunity to share our private oasis with others!
While you are here, feel free to use our kayaks, pedal boat, fishing poles grill, or any other amenities you find! You are welcome to swim or fish in our stocked pond. Need some fishing poles? Just ask.
You’re welcome to use our life jackets, too!

Please know that WCF is a working farm.
This means we have working dogs that keep our livestock safe from predators.
If you brought a dog, be sure to keep them secured and with you at all times.
We don’t want our dogs to mistake them as a threat.
You may hear roosters crowing or our livestock guardian dogs barking when they hear or see coyotes on our property.

Check-In

Tent campers:
When you arrive at the farm, pull into the circle drive. Your GPS should take you right to the farm. To the south of the driveway, you’ll see a horse round pen, a burn pile, and a bean field. Go ahead and drive to the entrance of the bean field and turn right to follow the path to the back of the property. (It’s ok if you are driving on some beans….) When you cannot go further, turn left and you’ll see the pond on your right. This is your private camping area for your stay.

RV/Pop-Up Campers:
Someone from it will need to be present when you check-in. We will open our pasture gates to the west of the property for you (to ensure no animals escape!), and have you drive through the pasture to back-in your camper. During the summer, our beans are in the field leaving you with no area to turn around and you’ll need to pull straight out. (There is no water hookup, electric, or sewer and you may need to level your camper.) You will need to back in through a 12-foot gate, but only about 50-100 yards. When you’re ready to leave, we can help you open and close the pasture gates to exit so we don’t have alpaca running down the road!

Amenities:

You are welcome to pitch your tent where you’d like! You can also move the grill, seats, or other items to suit your setup better. You can leave your vehicle at the camping area, or feel free to put it back up on our drive area.

There is a porta potty for use at the pond. You’ll find the light in the top right corner by the door. Just pull the string! We have well water available at the spicket near horse round pen. Or, if you’d rather use municipal water, just come up by the house and use the outside spicket. There is a garbage can for use at the camp area, too. Please take your trash bag and place in the cans at the front of the property near the driveway upon exit.

You are welcome to explore the area. We have horses, alpaca, sheep, goats, chicken, dogs and cats. But please don’t open any gates. (We do have tours available for those who want to get up close and personal in the pastures to pet the animals!) There is a creek just to the south of the pond, and if you’d like to walk, just take a hike down Bomke Road! If you up for a road trip, visit nearby New Salem, Hand of Fate Brewery, or head into Springfield. Need recommendations? Just ask!

Extras
We have farm fresh eggs available for $5/dozen, and firewood available for $7.50/bundle. There are nearby gas stations that sell firewood as well for $6/bundle. If you are not from the area, we ask that you purchase your firewood in Central Illinois to use at our farm.
