The campsite is located in a beautiful tropical forest that is serene, full of vegetation and with lots of activities to engage in.
The activities
One of the greatest physical features that La Paz can boast of is its numerous hills. Los Yungas is a beautiful, hilly, forested part of La Paz, which gives various options for adventure lovers. Our campers at El Viajero Adventure Camp will have a number of interesting activities to sample from:
Hiking and Hill Climbing – Now, this can be done in style. On your way to El Viajero Adventure Camp, one can actually choose to hike down from the junction at the main road (El Mirrador) to the camp, arriving in style. This is a 5km walk that gives hikers a spectacular view of this Latin American cloud forest, including the Death Road on the hills across. Nature photographers will enjoy the walk. Be warned, however, that this walk can take 2-4 hours, depending on how fast one walks so be prepared mentally and make sure to have a bottle of water or refreshment to make this more enjoyable. Being a hilly place, one can take up on a hill or two in the vicinity to spice up the experience.
Nature walks and treks – These short walks to the forest, the river and other places near the campsite are more relaxed and soothing. With these walks, are ideal when one wants to experience the nature, look for out for elusive animals, beautiful butterflies, insects, interesting plants and anything else that will draw your attention. This is also a beautiful moment for inspiration.
Bird Watching – Oh my! Los Yungas is a bird watching paradise. Different types of birds can be spotted far and near. At times, the beauty of this whole experience is just finding a quiet spot and listening out to different bird sounds. That can be a great personal or group challenge to find out how many birds you can identify purely by their sounds.
Bonfires – No camp is complete without a bonfire. This beautiful unwinding activity lets campers unwind, bond with fellow campers, make new friends and share their experiences.
Fruit picking - Depending on the season, there is an opportunity to engage in fruit picking. Some of the fruits available include oranges, lime, tree tomato, avocado and many more. You might get a chance to squeeze your own juice for dinner.
Relaxing – That is why you are here, right? SE relaxer. You can choose not to join a group going on a hike, or a trek and go at your own pace. You can choose to spend an entire day in your tent or just hang out with the people around you.
