The site with the ruin is located in a beautiful and very quiet area. There are no cars on the site, so you have to lug around your tent. There is a lot of space. The view is beautiful. The sanitary facilities that you share with the gite are fine.

How was the contact with the host?
Bruno is an attentive man, he knows a lot about the area and has good tips for hiking in the mountains.

The castle is delightfully remote and truly a special place (hence a bit tricky to find with just google maps, but there are signs to the castle from a certain point). The journey is absolutely worth it: In the middle of the French Alps there is a lot to discover in terms of history and nature. We would have loved to have stayed more than just one night to explore the beautiful surroundings.

How was the contact with the host?
Wonderful. Bruno gave us an evening tour of his property and the ruins that he is lovingly and painstakingly excavating with an archaeologist.

Tips for new guests?
Enjoy the place longer than just one night :)

Great experience at Bruno's. The camping pitches are spaced out enough to offer a feeling of being surrounded by nature (not overlooked), while remaining close to the sanitary facilities and the rest of the campsite. The surroundings are beautiful!

How was the contact with the host?
Very well. Bruno is available and welcoming.
He knows the area well and is full of good advice.

It was equally difficult to find. But the route description was correct. The location is in the sun all day long. And ruins and trees provide shade. Cooking in the sun oven is easy, tasty and fun.

How was the contact with the host?
He was available for questions. And he shared some information.

Tips for new guests?
Bring a tarp to create extra shade.

The place was beautiful.
We were allowed to set up our tent in the small grove in the heat.
From there we did a great hike to the mountains.

How was the contact with the host?
Bruno was very nice and gave us tips for hiking.
Despite our early arrival
he was approachable and let us set up.
Thank you Bruno

We camped for five days at the old Kastel and we had a fantastic time. Bruno's place is not far from Grenoble, but once there, the city is completely forgotten. It is a hidden place where we fully enjoyed the view of the Belledone and the flower meadows. And at night after the sunset on the old ruin of watching the starry sky and sleeping with the sound of the mountain stream.

How was the contact with the host?
Very good. Bruno is attentive and very interesting.

We arrived in the dark, but Bruno was patient with us. We stayed for two short days, enjoying the quiet of the old castle ruins. The first day we just stayed in and went to the nearby town after hanging out with the cats. The second day, Bruno gave us a 15 minute masterclass on the mountain lakes nearby, and the possible hikes we could take. One of the neat things is that Chambrousse is nearby, and with it, the cablecars that take you up the mountain so you can enjoy the views of the Alps.

How was the contact with the host?
Bruno was warm and welcoming. He spent a lot of time giving us tips for walks in the area.

Tips for new guests?
Stay for longer than a day, so you can explore the mountains well.

The old castle in the Alpes is a great getaway from everything. It feels like your hidden away from the rest of the world. The silence and peace is overwhelming and the area has a natural beauty which can only be found in the Alpes.

Bruno can tell you great stories about the area and knows of all the great places to go hiking.

Fantastic campspace with only 2 places at an old ruin. Spectacular views, beautiful area for walking. Sanitary somewhat dated, that's the only thing. There is also a gite for several guests, but it was empty during our stay.

How was the contact with the host?
Bruno is very hospitable, has many tips and as a historian knows a lot about the area, about the walks, Grenoble, the markets, nature and of course the history of the castle itself.

Tips for new guests?
Go up with the télécabine at Chamrousse.

very disappointed that you are lowering my average rating despite the welcome given. The sanitary facilities (shower, toilet, washbasin) are independent and reserved for campers, unlike most homestay campsites where the sanitary facilities are with the owner.

We’re a german/dutch couple with a dog. We were very happy that we were allowed to come with our dog to this camping. Everything was totally fine beside that maybe we didn’t read it well enough, but you have to bring all camping things up a little hill, which is like 50 meters walk and you climb like 20m. You also don’t really have electricity at your camp space. But can charge your stuff next to the main house of Bruno (which is where your car also will be placed, down the “hill”). But beautiful view and a lot of calmness.

How was the contact with the host?
Bruno is very nice. Always friendly and helped us a lot with little trips with the dog.

Tips for new guests?
You can’t access the camp space by car, so have muscles or don’t take too much.

Beautiful location! The field is only suitable for tents, with a camper you stay in the parking lot. You can sit on the field itself and enjoy the beautiful view.

How was the contact with the host?
Good contact via campspace. Very friendly host.

Tips for new guests?
The route to it is, as described earlier, a bit difficult to find, but follow the description then it is doable. I would recommend not to do the road to the campsite in the dark.

If you really like to be away from city noice and are longing for silence and beautiful nature sceneries

this is a real hidden secret

Tucked away in the mountains of the Belledonne, you will find this campspace surrounded by the old ruins of an 12th century castle

The host Bruno is super kind and helps you with every wish

Do not expect luxury. The kitchen and bathrooms are simple but sufficient

And by the way you need to be brave to take the little road up to the campspace

For us it was nature in a heavenly realm

Thank you Bruno for hosting us and the nice talks

beautiful setting, warm welcome,
pity that the equipment is minimalist, 1 shower and 1 toilet for the whole camp, no outdoor water point

How was the contact with the host?
very friendly and good advice for walks in the area

Tips for new guests?
Avoid weekends, especially if the castle lodge or the camp hosts a group of young revelers who are determined to have 2 sleepless nights in a row...
travel light, the camp is far from the parking lot
