About this campspace

We look forward to welcoming you to the Heuerhaus Balkum!

Children are very welcome! During the pandemic, we realized how lucky we are to live on a large property in nature. So we decided to share this joy with other people. We can have 3 mobile homes, no matter what type, at the same time, one on the shady pitch and two on the sunny meadow orchard. We also have a converted construction trailer in which two people can sleep comfortably.

A small washroom with toilet and sink is available for our guests around the clock. We have also set up a small area with a dining area, refrigerator and cooking facilities. You can also wash up there. We keep fresh eggs, bacon, juice & other little things ready. Our guests should like dogs as we have 3 larger specimens. At the weekends there is often a campfire, to which we cordially invite you.

Grilling is possible, an additional fire bowl is available when the weather is suitable. You are welcome to get wood from us, but for a fee. Water, toilet, kitchenette and fridge are included, if you want to use electricity in your own mobile home, we charge 3€. It is of course included in the price of the site trailer.
Walks, visits to the heated outdoor pool (2.5 km away), sleeping in, reading, digital detox or geocaching are some of the on-site options that work without a vehicle. The Alfsee with the two water ski tracks, the beach arena (both chargeable) and the great "Germanenland" playground (free) is about 12km.
There are shops and restaurants in the surrounding villages.

Wow! I'm really in love with the trailer. The bed is very comfortable. You can sleep on the upper part of the door, and the small window by the bed also a crack. This guarantees natural experiences. In the morning I felt like I was completely in the forest, the noise, the feeling of the sun shining in and being protected in the construction trailer at the same time is a dream. There was more than enough storage space and shelves for me. A small table for the bed made my work easier because I was working online on the laptop/mobile phone on site. It is very, very clean throughout the property. Toilet and kitchenette are absolutely sufficient, there was more equipment than I needed. The property is very beautiful and well maintained. As a cherry on the cake, I was allowed to be there to rescue the fawn. On the farm next door, they are equipped with a drone to scan the farmers' fields before mowing with a thermal imaging camera. We were able to save some animals. Getting up early was worth it for such a special opportunity to be there.

How was the contact with the host?
I felt very comfortable with Ulrike, Frank, the two daughters, the bright dogs and also the chickens. Ulrike gave me a very warm welcome and took the time to calmly explain everything to me. The conversations in between were very pleasant. Despite the proximity, I didn't feel restricted or anything like that. It was so spot on. We had a barbecue evening together at the weekend, also with other guests. It was very pleasant, and I was also happy, as vegetarians, Ulrike and Frank were particularly considerate. A few special requests of mine were really addressed with an open heart. I would come back anytime I'm in the area. I've seen a few places, the trailer is really special, a favorite place - definitely!

Tips for new guests?
You shouldn't have a problem with insects. A team of flies kept me pretty busy. It's just part of it.
Since I was working online, I used my mobile internet, which worked well. It just needs enough data volume. The reception is very good.
The birds are very active in the morning, chatting and singing. This made me wake up earlier than usual. However, I love being present in the early hours of the morning.

A beautiful place to relax outside. On arrival very warmly received by Ulrike and Frank. After a short tour of the site and the mini kitchen (including fridge, coffee maker, kettle and a one-burner electric hob), I was also nicely introduced to the 3 enthusiastic dogs, who roam freely over the site but not as far as the tent camping site come. Because dusk was already settling, I was immediately given the choice of a fire pit or fire bowl, and Frank delivered a wheelbarrow full of firewood to the tent, guaranteeing a wonderful evening with a campfire. After consuming a nice meal by the campfire, Ulrike treated me to a welcome liqueur and a nice chat at the campfire, in English that is. Although Ulrike apologized for her English, I actually thought it was of excellent quality to be able to have a normal conversation, probably much better than if we were to do it in my poor German :-). Furthermore, we enjoyed the peace and quiet and a nice walk in the Kettelsberg nature reserve, a stone's throw from the Campspace.

Tips for new guests?
If you like walking and would like to enjoy a beautiful piece of forest/nature and beautiful views, then pay a visit to the nature reserve between Riesenbeck and Ibbenburen during the outward or return journey from/to the Netherlands.

Great! Thank you very much!
I definitely didn't have the Kettelsberg on my radar. It is probably often the case that one is not so aware of the special places in the familiar environment.
Andre is a very likeable young man who is always welcome back here!

After a warm welcome from Ulrike and her nice family, we spent a few great days on their beautifully landscaped parking space in front of their property. Despite the rainy weather, we didn't have any mud in the car thanks to the wood chips on the pitch. The three friendly dogs always greet you when you go to the toilet, which was always clean. With every morning a freshly laid chicken egg and meat from the self-slaughtered pig, we were even spoiled with culinary delights. There is a lot to see in the area. We walked around the Alfsee, were in Osnabrück and in the culture and landscape park Piesberg. We'd love to come back with the feeling of coming back to friends.

Nice, quiet parking space. Fresh wood chips as a substrate, great in rainy weather.

Beautiful surroundings, lots of nature, great dairy farm in the neighborhood with a nice family.

Not as shady after cutting back the trees, which we found to be good.

Super nice hostess, you feel very welcome!
A fresh egg per person every day, wonderful. Fresh bread rolls + newspaper from the hostess on Sundays, perfect! Asks if we would like to use the fired grill and so on and so on. Top!

Toilet perfectly fine, clean!

Great for children who have taken animals in their hearts. Our girls were also allowed to help with collecting eggs from the chickens, dog brushes or the like :-)

We will be back!

we really enjoyed our short stay! The welcome was very warm, the three dogs were really nice after the first meeting and the area offers many beautiful opportunities for long bike tours and hikes. The pitch offers enough space and has everything you need: electricity, water and a clean toilet nearby. We are looking forward to the next time!

If you are looking for a really quiet place, Ulrike and her family are right for you! The farm is wonderfully situated in the middle of the countryside. You can hike very nicely and the bike paths are well developed. Cycling to Bramsche to go shopping is no problem at all. Ulrike and her husband are great hosts, friendly, helpful and eager to please their guests. The pitch itself is laid out with wood chips, so that we came to our camper with "clean" shoes even in bad weather. The necessary corona rules could be complied with without any problems. And most importantly, the courtyard toilet is simple, but perfect! Thanks for the nice stay, we'll be back!

Ulrike was very friendly and welcoming. A nice person! The garden has a large lawn, in ample size. You have to like dogs, this was no problem for us. In the area a nice restaurant with trains that bring beer. Recommended!
