We are Joke, Augustijn, Mirte, Jade, Abel and Douwe... and our friends on the farm of course: the two Ouessant sheep, the pygmy goat, the two kune kune pigs, the chickens, the ducks and the rabbits. It's a nice bunch here.
“How did you get around to opening a village farm?” people sometimes ask. It's like this: A few years ago we had a baby, and then another and then another and then another. We often thought: “Gosh, it would be nice to go and have an aperitif in a nice place while our children are romping.” But we did not immediately find such a place. So when one day I said to Gust: “wouldn't we make such a place ourselves, a petting zoo or something”, Gust said: “ok”. He did not know at the time that he would be appointed as an official first-class remodeler for the next three years. That's how it happened and not much later we heard about the purchase of… a gigantic dirty, rotten, dilapidated slum.
A few years, DIY, carpentry, collapsed walls, telephone calls with the urban planning department, even more collapsed walls, renovation, escaped pigs, a subsidy file and endless work days (thank you Gust!) Later the slum became a house, the barn a cafeteria , and the weed jungle a small farm. and as icing on the cake, we put together a gypsy wagon for those who like to spend the night here among the animals.

Last-minute night booked in the gypsy wagon. Everything was fine! The car was surprisingly spacious, clean, good beds and everything you need to cook a limited meal.

We were very well received. The kids loved the grounds and the animals. Because it was raining we could also use the hall, which was experienced as positive. A must for young and old!

We were warmly welcomed when we arrived at Dorpsboerderij Nest. In the back of the garden we slept in a cute pipowagen, which was equipped with a fridge, a table and a cupboard with some crockery, cutlery, a gas burner and a comfortable bed.
Unfortunately it rained a lot during our stay, but in the hour that it was dry we walked through the large garden positively. Large play area, a cable car and many animals. Every pen has a clever climbing wall to climb into, except for the pen for the two pigs; you enter it with a slide.
The stay was somewhat primitive: a single gas burner, no water and no toilet or shower. But a part of the farm also serves as a cafeteria a few days a year, where we could use the toilet and get water.
Overall, it's a nice place to stay for a few nights. This can be a fun adventure, especially with children! The gypsy wagon has only just been completed, so the available facilities will only get better.
How was the contact with the host?
The contact with the host was fast and friendly. Unfortunately, a first visit had just failed, but the second attempt was completed without any problems.
