About this campspace

Peace and seclusion on a meadow in the tree-lined natural garden in the middle of the fields await you.
No luxury, but a lot of area. ;-)
Listen to the nightingale by the pond or watch buzzards above the treetops.
So relaxed you can then turn to the nearby cultural and leisure activities, walk in the footsteps of the Romans in the Archaeological Park or discover the historic city center of Xanten and then refresh yourself with water sports (e.g. water skiing, SUP) on the South Seas.
I offer 3 tent sites at the same time.
There are wildlife cameras on the property.

My garden is my favorite place, here I feel intensely connected to life. I would like to share my joy with you.
Unfortunately, I don't speak Dutch and my English is also rather rudimentary. But I can use a translation program. :-)

Lovely staying. The garden is spacious and the little house has all the essentials. We enjoyed so much lighting the stove

Don't expect anything fancy. It's a cute place but raw. There are animal around. Since we were expecting rain we brought coverage for our tent and plastic sheets to put under us. We never got wet

'Naturerleben am Niederrhein' is a wonderfully fine orchard for anyone who loves peace and quiet. Storks, hares and hordes of geese live in the area (do not cause a nuisance), and for the rest it is a nice place for relaxation. The house next door has a kitchen with many cooking utensils, sanitary facilities are in order (sometimes a tap that is a bit difficult, but everything works), in short, a top place for the real tent camper!

How was the contact with the host?
Hilka is very hospitable and helpful to her guests, someone who gives her guests confidence. Questions are answered quickly and clearly, and a lot is possible in consultation.

Tips for new guests?
Xanten is a pretty town with an archaeological museum, built on the site of a former Roman frontier town, and a Roman museum, built on the foundations of a Roman thermal bath. In addition, there are beautiful walks to take and you can enjoy shopping and good food. It's really worth it.

Hilka's campspace was easy to find. The yard was spacious with plenty room for our tiny two-person trekking tent. Just after sunset we saw fireflies dancing around, which was quite magical.

How was the contact with the host?
Hilka is a friendly and helpful host, who trusts you to be a good guest when she is not around herself.

Tips for new guests?
Visit the Roman museum on a weekend day. It is definitely worth a day.

We had a great short (1 night) stay at the nature campsite and would highly recommend it. This place is truly a little paradise for people who seek peace, seclusion and the beauty of nature.

Surrounded by fields, there is a beautiful meadow in the tree-lined natural garden, which invites you to linger and relax.

The simple equipment of the place is simple, but completely sufficient, as described on Campspace. There was everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. The sanitary facilities were clean and well maintained.

In the evening we could relax around the campfire. We were able to enjoy the peace and seclusion in the midst of nature. We can recommend this place to any nature lover who wants to escape from busy city life for a while. Next weekend is already booked.

How was the contact with the host?
We had a very nice contact with the owner.

Tips for new guests?
Notes for other campers:
- Xanten offers a wide range of leisure activities
- You should have mosquito spray and tick tweezers with you
- you don't really notice the road nearby, unless there are loud speeders on the road
- other campers can also book the space - so you are not necessarily alone

Our long weekend at Hilka was just fantastic. The place in the middle of nature is just fantastic and in the kitchen and bathroom you will find everything you need for a real "glamping" adventure.

How was the contact with the host?
Super fast and reliable, open to all questions and easily accessible.

Tips for new guests?
We carried far too much stuff with us that we didn't need: You can leave things like camping chairs and camping pots at home because everything is really there.
Headlamps are definitely helpful for the nightly trip to the toilet.

A beautiful orchard just outside Xanten. Very quiet, lots of space. View over the fields. Use the abandoned farm (toilet shower, kitchen, table and chairs. Great when it rains! Xanten is a beautiful town with a very nice archaeological museum (outside and inside) where you can walk around all day, back to the Roman era, and then not back to a modern hotel, but to a quiet place where your tent is set up and will not be disturbed

How was the contact with the host?
By phone: good, got the necessary info

Tips for new guests?
There is a stove in the farm, but it doesn't work. At least we couldn't get it to work

For about 15 years I have been trying to develop the site ecologically in order to offer the native flora and fauna a retreat.
This includes: elimination of neophytes (unfortunately I fail with neozoa, see nutria) and colonization of native plants (bird feeders, etc.) etc. There is also a dry stone wall, Benje hedges, nesting holes for birds and bats, a compost (in which one already sometimes a mouse weasel can meet), piles of stones and much more.
