Our site:
We live in a white former nursery house along the Amstel. Around this house we have a wild garden with berry-bearing shrubs, fruit trees and flowers. The garden is cozy and has sheltered spots. We have room for 2 x 2 adults. In addition, kids of all ages are also welcome.

It is nice to stay here on beautiful spring and summer days. Swimming in the Amstel, walking or cycling. Or maybe even boating or canoeing. Enough to do!

There are chickens (fresh eggs!), two cats and a dog on our property. A nice addition for an animal lover. Do you have a little less with animals? Then we can keep them on “our” side of the garden during your stay.

For a small fee you can extend your stay with nice extras. Such as renting our Canadian canoe, wood for a campfire or a reel (electricity) at the tent. Fresh drinking water is always available for free and you can use our (warm) outdoor shower for free.

We always like to get to know our campers, that's why we offer the possibility to eat with us for a fee of 7.50 euros pp. Don't feel obligated! If you are interested in this, please indicate this in advance, including your allergies and whether you are vegetarian/vegan.

If you bring small children, they can use the play facilities in the private part of our garden in consultation. Think of a slide, sandbox and toddler swing.

In the context of transparency, we would like to indicate in advance that a road runs over the dike on which we live (between our plot and the Amstel). This is a recreational route where mainly local traffic and recreationists drive. Nevertheless, it remains a road. We also live in the west of the country, so you have to take into account the fact that planes fly over from time to time.

Area:
A stone's throw away there are nice entrepreneurs such as a boat rental, a tea garden, a dairy farm, a garden center and our neighbor grows and sells delicious strawberries.

We are located exactly between Leiden and Amsterdam, both at a distance of 25 km. Within cycling distance there are many small villages with cafes and restaurants. The village center of Nieuwveen (where a supermarket, snack bar, café and bakery can be found) is 2 km walking/cycling distance.

It is a wetland area, so you should definitely consider canoeing or sailing on the Amstel, the Meije, the Drecht or the Aardkanaal. This can be done directly from our house. The Nieuwkoopse lakes are also nearby (10 km).

Do you like walking? Then there are various hiking trails in the area.

We are Christiaan and Aranea and have been living in this house along the Amstel since 2014. Especially in the spring and summer months, living here feels like a holiday every day. And we would like to share that with more people!

We are enterprising and active people. Enjoy walking (especially abroad), are always in and around the house and enjoy spending time outside by a campfire. In the summer, hardly a day goes by that we do not swim in the Amstel.

We have a small amount of animals at home. A dog, two cats, a dozen chickens and hopefully two kids in the near future.

We had a very pleasant stay with Christiaan, Areana and Hugo. We slept wonderfully in their cozy garden. On the other side of the house we could swim in the Amstel. A ladder makes it easier to dive. And in the evening we were allowed to sit down at the evening table with the evening sun. They had cooked mekker with delicious and spectacular dessert.

How was the contact with the host?
Everything was super clear. Areana had a guest book where everything is clearly noted. It's all very hot. The dog Yuka walks everywhere in between, the sandbox and toys were available for our daughter… We were received as if we were at home.

Tips for new guests?
To enjoy

Perfect! Quick communication and welcoming host! We had a great experience! The food was nice and we really enjoyed the night at the fire! The house and campspace were lovely also. And finally I can really recommend the canoe trip! Canoe trip and Theetuin [Heerlijk]! And if you are going to the coop anyway, check out the Nicolaashof ;)

This Campspace is indeed a cozy wild camping spot with lots of nice cozy corners, a great compost toilet and a lovely place for a campfire! The location on the Amstel is very nice for swimming and chilling on the waterfront. If you want to get a nice cup of coffee, rent the canoe and paddle 1.5 km to the Tea Garden, really enjoy! The host and wife are nice and cozy to have a delicious meal with and the food is very tasty. In short, if you want to get away from it all and get to know new people, this is the right place.

The garden is cozy and has sheltered spots. In the summer there is a lot of picking fruit around this place. It is a shady place with morning sun. In the rest of the garden there is enough sun to sit in during the day, but at least the tent stays cool!

This camping spot is at the front of the house. There is room for a tent of up to 2x3 meters. You sit here next to a colorful perennial border in summer or between the bulbs in spring. The place has less privacy than the 'under the birch' spot, but has a great evening and mizon.
