Dear glampers, adventurous campers,
just an important note:
Due to the excessive amounts of rainfall in recent months, the Oeverlood (located in Broekbos) is difficult to access. The unpaved road to us was already in poor condition, but due to the incessant overdoses of rain, it is no longer accessible by car. You can still go by bike if you pay a little attention and get off where necessary (or if you like a bit of mountain bike style ;)), but so you cannot get to us by car and have to cover the last +-700m on foot . If you want, we can come to the canal embankment (possibly with our mud mobile aka wheelbarrow) and help carry your luggage. (be sure to bring boots/proper footwear because the paths at our spot can also be muddy/boggy)
Sorry for this inconvenience, it's apparently part of it for now :)
We hope that you can still enjoy our place to the fullest, regardless of the weather!
Thank you in advance for your understanding.
And then below the general information and what you can expect for the rest :)
De Oeverlood is located in the middle of a beautiful nature reserve, at the foot of the Nete river.
Inspired by permaculture principles, we are designing this former weekend retreat. It is a place for peace, wonder and (nature) connection. The strength and charm of our place and what we offer lies in its purity and simplicity.
Much of it is shared land. We also live in a chalet here, but there is enough space for your privacy.
Our colorful vegetable and flower garden is centrally located
(from which we can (if it suits) prepare a delicious meal in the evening for whoever wants.
Breakfast is also possible with eggs from our chickens and home-baked sourdough bread. )
In addition to a lot of chickens, a few rabbits and our enthusiastic dog Storm also live here.
About the bell tent:
Our cozy canvas tent is located between a group of thick pine trees, lovingly decorated with soulful second-hand items.
There is a small awning where two people can sit and enjoy the fresh air even when it rains.
All kinds of birds sing and frogs croak you to sleep.
Keep in mind that mosquitoes may be present at certain times (especially in the evening), so always wear long clothing and perhaps something (preferably nothing chemical) to keep them at bay. (e.g. citronella, or lighting a fire always helps)
There are several seating and lounging areas and the tent is also located near a former swimming pond. (One day we hope to make this swimmable again :) ).
There is a shared compost toilet 40 meters from the tent.
~~~~~~~~~
We use groundwater that we filter for drinking and provide a separate berkey filter at the tent that you can always replenish yourself.
Since last year we also have an outdoor shower!
On hot days you can take a nice cold shower, but you can also take a wonderfully warm shower now.
In the summer, when it is not too wet, you can pitch your tent in the elf forest. (certainly not possible until July)
The canal is a 5-minute walk away and the center of both Mol and Balen are not far away.
In addition to the Griesbroek nature reserve in which we are located, this region also has many other nature reserves and hiking/exploration options.
We are also close to Limburg with its many beautiful cycling routes and Bosland.
We have a cycling and walking map of the neighborhood that you can lend out.
My name is Merel and I live with my boyfriend Steven in a chalet in the woods. We like to connect with people by letting them enjoy and be inspired by this beautiful place, to which we give our energy and dedication day in, day out. We are also both musicians and we regularly give sound journeys and relaxation concerts.
