About this campspace

Our yurt is located in Hoogmade, next to our farm, in a small orchard, where there are 2 pear trees, 3 apple trees, a plum tree and a cherry tree. You have complete privacy, because it is enclosed with a large hedge (which is bare in winter), and water. You have a view of the polder, where our horses and in the summer the cows of the neighbors walk.

There is a video on our fb page Yurt in the orchard.

We have a clear dome, which means it's light when it's light outside. If you find that annoying, you could bring a sleeping mask. Possibly. also available from us.

There is a BBQ available.

There is Wi-Fi.

Coffee and tea can be consumed unlimited.
There is a 2-burner induction plate with pans.

There is also the possibility to visit a cheese farm. (not on Sunday)
There are beautiful cycling and walking routes nearby, including around the Braassemermeer. You can find them on the site around kaagenbraassem.
At 5 minutes by car you can swim at the Wijde AA Woubrugge, in open water. Also dogs.

Smoking, fondue or stone grilling is not allowed in the yurt. This because of the air that pulls into the canvas.

Dogs are very welcome. They can run loose in the enclosed garden.
There is a private parking space for 1 car.

Tips

Get farm cheese from the neighbor's cheese farm.
There are beautiful cycling and walking routes in Kaag and Braassem and 5 minutes by car is a beautiful swimming spot, the wide Aa in Woubrugge, where you can swim in open water.

We enjoyed our holiday in the yurt together with our golden retrievers, what a special experience in the middle of the polders, between the fruit trees. The yurt is super cozy and everything has been thought of. Everything you need (kitchen utensils, bathrobes and towels, board games, ...) is available. No lack of comfort, camping in all luxury. Especially with the separate bathroom! What a beautiful spot. We are very happy that we discovered this!

How was the contact with the host?
Gemma and Hans are great hosts. They really pampered us. There were fresh eggs, treats for the dogs (and their drinking and eating bowls were also ready), we even got ice cream when we just arrived! Gemma and Hans, thank you for the hospitality, for all the info and the short but nice chat. Thanks again for the wonderful, personal gift when we left! We enjoyed the tasty cheese!

Tips for new guests?
For people with dogs. Please note that the yurt is surrounded by water. That is not a problem at first, but when large dogs dive in, sludge comes up and that is less fun (dog shampoo is available ;) Yes, we really thought of EVERYTHING.). However, don't worry there are a lot of places in the area where your dog can run loose and swim in clear water. Our favorite was the Klinkenbergerplas. See photo, but you can also go to the Valkenburgse Meer for water fun. You can also run loose nearby at the Ghoybos. Be sure to visit pancake farm De Hooiberg for a delicious sweet or savory pancake. Gemma's place was by far the best stay of our entire trip. We LOVED everything about it. The privacy, the cute river around the yurt, the comfortable bed (which you can recline and was perfect to read) and clean, modern bathroom. Our dog Simba was very welcome and even got treats :) It has everything you need and we wished we'd stayed longer!

Gemma and Hans run a yurt in Hoogmade because they like to share a piece of their property with other people. We visited this property in the winter and stayed for two nights.
