Our Campspace is temporarily closed due to renovations, we hope to be able to open in the coming months after an interruption of several years! To be continued!
____________________________
You can camp here in the middle of fields and forests, away from light and noise. Our domain is just under five hectares, so there is plenty of space!
The place is also highly sought after by local wildlife such as deer, hares and squirrels. Bird watchers will certainly get their money's worth here!
The former pig farm was built in 1953. Between 1985 and 2005, a strawberry farm was established there by my parents. After that, the meadows lay unused and nature was given free rein. In 2020, a renovation project was started to turn the site back into a fully-fledged agricultural and horticultural company, specialized in trial cultivation of new potential strawberry varieties. The oldest pigsty was demolished, the large shed was completely renovated and the house was rebuilt to meet today's building regulations. A small 400 m² greenhouse has also been built in the meadow for our summer trial crops. The renovated building will be completed in 2024 and nature lovers can once again enjoy it in peace. After all, despite being very close to the village center, you notice very little of the buildings in the area. The residents of our street whose gardens overlook the domain also attach great importance to the view of the beautiful nature.
Practical information:
The village is 500 meters away and you will find a bakery, butcher's shop, Café Eendracht at Jeoffrey (my favorite café) and a little further on in the Dorpstraat a chip shop and day shop (night shop but during the day).
The nearest train stations are Serskamp, Schellebelle and Wetteren. If you take the bus, you can take bus 58 at Wetteren station to the Serskamp Kerk stop (it takes about ten minutes).
Campers are better left on the road in the wetter months, but that is just as much of a fun experience as being in the meadow!
Do you need a cable roll? Then I provide that. Unfortunately, this is not possible for those who want to be more than 50 meters from the last socket, unless you have an extra extension cord with you. You would do me a great favor to roll up the cable reel when you leave.
Laminated walking maps are available for walks in the nearby area, which you can borrow and simply leave on the table when you check out. The 'Tree Nursery Path' (6 km) is a walking tour that passes through the Eetgoedbos and the fields where the typical tree nurseries are located. The tour 'Right through the valley of the Serskampse brook' (9 km) is a fun tour through the swampy forests (walking paths also on wooden planks (such as in the High Fens)) and among the wild cows. Both walks start at the church of Serskamp. If you like longer walks, I recommend the Kalkense Meerssen, which you can reach in Schellebelle with the free ferry across the Scheldt. You can swim in the Nieuwdonk recreational area in Overmere (8 km) and the De Warande swimming pool in Wetteren (5 km).
PS: this Campspace was previously called "The Valley near the Eetgoed".

I am Stan, 34 years old and have been living at this place in Serskamp for just as long. I was literally born and raised there! In the meantime, I live here with my wife Leen and daughter Flo. Stan works in the horticultural sector and knows a lot about astronomy, Leen is a primary school teacher and knows better than anyone how to animate a child. Who knows, we may soon welcome you to our court!
