Magnificent Albion plateau dominated by Mont Ventoux. In the middle of lavandin fields. For all those who love the great outdoors...
Close to sinkholes for caving.
Activities
At the southwest end of the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, bordering Vaucluse, Simiane-la-Rotonde is perched above a plain, at an altitude of 650 m.
Between Ventoux, Lure and Luberon
The village is at the center of a triangle bringing together the summits of Ventoux, the Lure mountain and the Grand Luberon. Surrounded by the Luberon regional natural park, the Albion plateau and the Pays de Forcalquier, its terroir is at the meeting point of Mediterranean and Alpine influences: it happily welcomes the olive tree, which is approaching its northern limit, and the fine lavender, whose cultivation begins at this altitude.
Simiane, village of lavender and aromatic plants
Simiane-la-Rotonde is home to the largest lavender and lavandin cooperative in France. During the visit to the feudal castle, you will discover the uses and benefits of essential oils in a dedicated space.
The courtyard of the castle is made up of small gardens created with plants from Valsaintes Abbey which allow you to discover the diversity of the local botanical terroir. During the flowering period of lavandin (mid-June to mid-July) and lavender (from mid-June to August), the village overlooks the large fields with the pronounced color of this emblematic plant of Provence.
Your activities: Hikes at Mont Ventoux, walks in the woods and lavender fields, visit to Colorado Provençal and the magnificent surrounding Provençal villages.
Mermaid Observatory in La Garde d'Apt to visit the stars, Sault lavender festival, Revest-du-Bion chestnut festival, swimming in the Nesque Gorges.
You can also discover Provençal gastronomy and local products, Côtes du Ventoux wines, Sault nougat, Banon tomes and cheese, AOP.
The candied fruits of Apt... Something to delight you!
