About this campspace

In our haven of peace in Huismes, near Chinon and 1.5 km from the Loire à Vélo itinerary, we offer a few camping pitches in a pasture bordered by a stream.
You'll be awakened by the sound of birdsong, or by the ewes and Pepa, our sometimes (often) mischievous donkey.

A mill with its wheel spinning at the end of the world, far from civilization.
The sound of water, greenery, a few domestic animals (sheep, donkeys, geese, chickens... when the fox will let us have some) or "wild" ones (coypu, beavers, herons, frogs, squirrels, dragonflies, kingfishers, etc.)... life.

The activities
Lovely walks and cycle rides around the mill. Birdwatching in the nearby marsh. Tastings with local producers.
Within a 25 km radius, you can visit Chinon, Fontevrault, Candes St Martin, Rigny-Ussé, Langeais, Saumur, Azay le Rideau... among others.
Accrobranche at St Benoit la Forêt.
Canoeing and paddling on the Indre, Vienne and Loire rivers.
Guinguette 1.5 km away (closed on Mondays and Tuesdays) and friendly restaurant 3 km away (closed on Sunday and Wednesday evenings).
Basic shops in Huismes (3 km) and Avoine (5 km).

Pitch for Tent, Van

Bring your own
  • Tent

  • Van

The pitches are located in a meadow beside the stream.
We cannot accommodate camper vans or caravans, and cars cannot access the camping area (small bridge to cross).
They remain parked at the entrance to the property (wheelbarrow available for transferring equipment (120 m), if necessary).
The camping area is in the shade from mid-afternoon, which brings coolness in the evening, and is sunny one hour after sunrise, for a bright awakening...
When our pipistrelles are unable to consume all the mosquitoes at their disposal, we can lend you essential oil diffusers to keep these unpleasant insects away from your tent.

The sanitary facilities
A "classic" toilet and shower are permanently available to travelers, as well as access to drinking water.
The installation of a solar shower and dry toilets at the entrance to the "camping zone" is planned... as soon as I have a few days to devote to it.

The amenities
Travelers have access to covered snacking areas in the mill courtyard, as well as to the barbecue.
Near the sanitary facilities, we provide a refrigerator, microwave oven, hotplate, toaster, coffee maker and kettle, crockery and pots and pans, as well as sockets for recharging phones, tablets, PCs and bikes.
A few games are available to keep young and old busy... frogs, ping-pong table and rackets, shuffleboard, board games.
A fully equipped workshop is available for minor repairs to bikes or camping equipment.
We also have a small "emergency grocery" for hikers who are too tired to go out again.
In case of bad weather (which is so rare), the "Hangar" will offer you its roof to eat, write, read, play... in the dry.
And in the event of very bad weather (never or almost never), we can also open "La salle aux meules", especially if there are little ones to occupy (board games... TV DVD player).

Tent ready
We have a Quechua 2-second and 2-seater for emergency use (if the weather is too bad for an early start, for example).
And even a three-seater of the same metal not far away...
for
For the vans, in view of the spectacular increase in EDF rates, we are asking for a contribution of €3 per day for the electrical connection. As soon as we produce our own kilowatts, we'll adjust these rates...
