You can sail from the harbor to the Frisian lakes to the Sneekermeer or the Langweerderwielen, so don't forget to rent a boat (sloop, tour boat, canoe or sup). Roelof and Petra Speelman, and son Dennis started Recreatiepark de Uilenburg in 2023. Roelof and Petra have been in recreation their entire working lives and are extremely experienced hosts. For decades they were owners of various group accommodations in Friesland and Drenthe and they ensured that guests there could enjoy their holidays and free time to the fullest. In addition, Roelof and Petra have been owners of De Kievit recreation park in Oudehaske for 34 years. They found Recreatiepark De Uilenburg so unique and so surprising that they immediately envisioned how they could create an enchanting holiday paradise here. Phase one will be completed in 2023. The second phase will take place in 2024: the old management house of the villa will then be transformed into a luxurious accommodation for 10 people and a number of apartments will be built in the former water extraction warehouse. In addition to the safari tents and log cabins, the park also has a number of barrels (holiday homes in the shape of a wine barrel) and wooden wigwams (holiday homes that resemble only the pointed roof of a house). When all accommodation and pitches are occupied, the park still feels small-scale and friendly.
The Speelman family lives on the site, in the former stoker's house in the villa. So they are nearby for questions.
