Located in a preserved natural area, the village is nestled at an altitude of 750 meters, in the Haut Allier gorges, on the borders of the Allier and Chapeauroux rivers. Its impressive basaltic cirque, shaped by the Allier, offers a unique setting for outdoor activities.
Nature lovers can swim in the cool waters of the river, go hiking on the wooden paths or take the Roman roads to reach the GR 470 or the famous Stevenson path. Fishermen will be able to indulge their passion in first-class waterways offering great diversity and exceptional quality.
Chapeauroux is also renowned for white water sports such as canoeing and kayaking. The courses, offering grandiose and wild landscapes, guarantee unforgettable thrills.
