Both this Tiny House and the place are unique.

You are the only guest here in this nature house. So enjoy the peace and dark starry nights. From the parking lot you walk through the Fruithof orchards to the cottage. The Tiny House is one of a kind, a picture and very atmospheric. Comfortable all year round, with underfloor heating and a wood stove. From the kitchen you can see the birds nesting in the trees, lambs frolicking in the meadow in front of the house. The sleeping area can be closed off and has a double bed (or 2 single beds if desired), under a stargazing window! The sanitary house, which is next to the Pioneer House, provides an extra special experience. The toilet is connected to a helophyte filter and overlooks the forest. The lovely sky shower has roof windows and is decorated with a picture wall, making it like being in a greenhouse. Outside you can enjoy your hammock, picnic bench, relaxing armchairs and cozy campfire.

The location is very suitable for a stay of several days. You can explore no fewer than 3 National Parks: Dwingelderveld, Drents Friese Woud and the Weerribben. At the bicycle transferium you can find all kinds of mobility.

Frederiksoord has a fascinating history, was the first colony of the Society of Benevolence and recently (2021) received UNESCO World Heritage status. In and from the Pioneer House you can absorb the story of the Colonies of Benevolence in your own way. There are books to read and right opposite the Pioneer House (on the other side of the meadow) is the Museum de Proefkolonie. Here the story is depicted and told in a modern museum. In the countryside you can explore stories by bike, on foot, with a guide or individually with a listening tour.

In short, a perfect retreat place and base from which to explore this Unesco World Heritage area and the National Natural Parks.

  • You can enjoy honest food at Posten (Nordic Cuisine) in Frederiksoord; the sit-down meals at Esther's; Fun in Havelte or the Lock Keeper in Dieverbrug.
