My name is Hans and together with Jeannette, my wife, we started our garden campsite in 2021. We are passionate over 65s who love to go on holiday and this is almost always camping. We do this in early spring, autumn and winter. From the end of April to mid-September we run a small-scale garden campsite.

Tips

  • Walking with a guide, strolling along the Meuse.

  • Eat at the cozy and good restaurants. or go to the snack bar.

  • Farm shop with various regional products.

  • Opposite the campsite restaurant De Poort.

We had a wonderful holiday, cycled a lot and enjoyed the area with nice trips such as Loevestein Castle and high tea in Mill. We were received very warmly and Hans is very helpful, such as putting the small sprint 400 in place, etc. The garden has suffered from the drought, but the enjoyment was no less. The sanitary facilities are very good and spacious. (nice hot water too). Definitely worth going again :)

How was the contact with the host?
Hans is very cordial (the rest of the fam too). On arrival help and nice talk about "what and how" on the campsite and surroundings. If you want or need something, tel. Contact is always possible (or you will be called back quickly). Hans shows that he wants his guests to have a good time and we liked that.

Tips for new guests?
There is an online newspaper of the area with events and nightlife tips.

How was the contact with the host?
Perfect!

Tips for new guests?
Nope

July 2022

Host Hans has responded

Hi Annelot, thank you for your review. Just a comment on my part because new guests may get an incorrect impression because of this.
With regard to noise nuisance from the road which is located further behind the dike, the following: this road leads to the ferry from Megen and from about 11 p.m. hardly any traffic uses it and from 24 a.m. the ferry no longer sails... Our guests appreciate just the peace and quiet at our campsite.
With regard to the close together places: you have booked a tractor tent on the tractor field for a limited rate. Although you can expect that you will be closer to each other, this is only the case to a limited extent. You stayed one night and were the last guests on the field. On your own photo you can see that in my opinion it is not that bad with "close together".
Looking forward to next time.
Kind regards, Hans

The campspace is located on the edge of the historically rich village center with everything within walking distance that can add value to your stay. 2 bakeries, restaurants, a pub, and for our green fellow citizens the polders are a stone's throw away. We are very satisfied with this location.

How was the contact with the host?
Very friendly and helpful people.

Tips for new guests?
Just do it! No doubt.

A very warm welcome at the campsite by owner Hans. Takes extensive time for information about the facilities and the Megen area. With a glass of house wine, great! Everything is well cared for and clean, compliments. Delicious food at the Gate of Megen & Titus. In short, a nice place to stay!

After a 'rough' campsite in the rear corner, this garden campsite came across as very neat and careful. Beautiful arrival route over the dike. Host Hans had come up with the spot under the plum tree for us. Nice spot, close to brand new sanitary facilities. (At night sometimes awake from other guests / doors.) Beautiful fruit tree garden in a beautiful town. Sanitary fine and sustainable. Hospitality top. At both the gate of Megen and Titus delicious eaten and nice and close. 'Information stand' and 'shop' on the campsite liked it. Beautiful area for cycling and walking. Beautiful beach even if you take the ferry across, so yes, we also swam, despite the somewhat fickle weather.

How was the contact with the host?
very good. also a lot of camping experience, nice to exchange.

Scout Henk About the scout program

Tell us about your experience
At Tuincamping Megen, Hans and Jeanette write hospitality in capital letters. With a tent, camper or caravan you are on a spacious pitch in their beautifully landscaped garden. The historic town of Megen is around the corner and the beautiful Maas nearby. From the campsite we had a view of a stork's nest and when we opened our curtains early this morning, there was a little owl on the fence. The campsite is fully equipped; you can even rent a few bicycles and in autumn you can pick fruit to your heart's content in the orchard.

Beautifully located green campsite, near the Meuse.
Good sanitary facilities and personal nice information and attention from good host!
Nice village with a great ice cream parlor and a garden of the Fathers Hof van lof
Only drawback: Small pitches (full in high season) open spaces and the campsite is located against a residential area where something is still being built.

How was the contact with the host?
Fine!

Tips for new guests?
just go

A bit noisy at times because of the traffic on the dike.

How was the contact with the host?
Good
