Your host

Ellen & Nico

We are Ellen & Nico and we would like to welcome you in our ecological garden of 3,000m² to spend the night and enjoy all the beauty that nature has to offer.

We only accept 1 booking per period, which means that you are always alone and there will be no other guests.

When purchasing the house, we started from the existing old orchard with apple, pear and cherry trees and we have further developed it over the years with new fruit trees and shrubs, large vegetable garden, pond, wildflower meadow and flower borders especially for various pollinators. . We also have a pony, goat, a few chickens, 2 cats and 2 lovely dogs.

From this season we also offer a glamping tent. This can be rented furnished or empty. It's a Sibley 450 Pro Tech. These tents are made of high quality durable cotton. The cotton ensures that the tent can 'breathe' and that it is wind and waterproof. The Sibley 450 pro has a diameter of 4.5m and a surface area of 16m². This gives you more than enough space in the tent.

The furnished tent has 2 beds with slatted base, height-adjustable headboard and mattresses. There is also a cupboard and bed linen and towels are also provided. Come and enjoy nature in the fall and winter. Because the beds are raised from the ground and you do not lie directly on the ground, it is less cold. We also provide a special thick winter duvet, 2 extra blankets per person and 2 hot water bottles.

Air mattress, bed linen and/or towels can be booked with the empty tent if desired.

There is also a fire bowl, petanque court, old wooden kicker table, darts board, Kubb and a few board games. In bad weather, it is also possible to camp, have a barbecue and spend some time under the half-open old hay barn.

In the area there are several nature reserves with marked walks. We are also close to the Flemish Ardennes with well-known bicycle climbs such as the Muur, Bosberg, Molenberg and Berendries. Also plenty of nice mapped out mountain bike trails. These routes are all part of the South-East Flanders mountain bike network, with a total of 490 continuous kilometers of mountain biking through the South-East Flemish nature!
We are happy to provide you with more detailed information and plans.

From this season we also have a brand new bathroom available for the campers with toilet, sink and shower. There is also drinking water, electricity and a fridge available. Everything is accessible even when we are not at home.

A number of extras can be booked at the end of the booking, but these can certainly also be agreed on the spot.

Do you have a special wish, do you want to surprise someone with something extra? Please let us know and we will arrange this!

Hopefully we can welcome you in our garden!
Ellen & Nico

We are Ellen & Nico and have been living in Wanzele for about 10 years now. Over the years we have adapted the garden to an ecological garden, which is constantly changing. I myself, Ellen, have been beekeepers for a few years and have just completed my training as a herbalist. Nico is an avid cyclist, both on the road and in the field. We are happy to welcome you with the necessary explanation about all our different passions.

We had a wonderful week in Ellen and Nico's garden. The peace and space of the garden, the extensive -covered- facilities, the delicious breakfast and the sanitary facilities made our week complete. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and will definitely come back!

How was the contact with the host?
Very pleasant. Immediately after our booking, I received extensive information from Ellen via email. The contact via SMS also went very smoothly and on arrival I was sent a number of digital cycling routes for the mountain bike almost immediately. Everything was negotiable (even an unexpected laundry with dirty baby clothes :D).

Tips for new guests?
Take a seat under the canopy for an evening, light a fire in the fire pit and wait until you see barn owl fly out! We've only heard it, but it can't be anything but spectacular.

One of the best campspaces we've visited so far. You have a lot of privacy and a lot of facilities at your disposal such as shower, toilet, a sitting area, beautiful garden with terrace and fire bowl, ... in short, everything you need for a nice outing, whether it is short or long. The name 'a place to bee' has been chosen very nicely because it is not only a nice place but also because the bees have a place there. Ellen & Nico really have an eye and a heart for nature. We will definitely come back here, rain or shine.

How was the contact with the host?
Ellen & Nico are two very jovial people with the 'natural' heart in the right place. They run their campspace very well and you immediately feel at home. They are happy to answer your questions and also give a lot of explanation. The information folder they provide is really great and proves that they have a heart for their own environment and want to share this with their guests.

Tips for new guests?
Be sure to order breakfast because it is very tasty and extensive. What is also highly recommended is the Chamois Walk, of which you determine the distance yourself. There are still nice walks in the area or bike rides, but then you'd rather have better weather than we had. But even with bad weather this is a nice campspace. Who knows, there may soon be a 'bees' course because it is simply the 'place to BEE' :-). Their honey already tastes like more.

Given the changeable weather, we have gratefully made use of the barn, where you can make food, barbecue, eat, kick or chill in the cozy sitting area.

This Campspace exceeded all expectations. There is a super cozy sitting area in a spacious barn that can ensure that bad weather is not a bummer. You can play petanque, table football and much more.

The optional breakfast with many products from the garden is a must when you are there. I think this Campspace is perfect if you want to get away with a group of friends!

The weather was not 100% good, but we still had fun. As part of our "staycation" I wanted to give my son a taste of camping...and this was a fantastic introduction. Beautiful garden, good tent and spacious tent, animals, breakfast (with a capital letter), roasting marshmallows, ...

How was the contact with the host?
Jovial & correct!

Hi Peter & Leon,

Thanks for the nice review… you were indeed really unlucky with the weather, exactly autumn instead of summer 🌧🌧. Fortunately Leon didn't seem to care too much. 😉

Ellen and Nico, a top duo! When we arrived we were blown away by the beautiful garden. Our expectations were immediately high and we were certainly not disappointed! Very friendly people where you can ask anything. Our daughters aged 5 and 7 were spoiled a lot! The breakfast is definitely recommended, delicious!! The children will not soon forget Ellen's explanation about her bees. :-). We will definitely come back!

How was the contact with the host?

Although Wanzele is not far from our hometown, it was a place that was completely unknown to us. However, we were allowed to enjoy the hospitality of Ellen and Nico for 5 days. The delicious breakfast, the lovely garden with flowers, playing croquet or petanque, the proximity to nature (with the call of the owlets and a small (and a large) frog in the pond) and the unexpectedly beautiful weather, made us forget that we were so close to home. A camping trip at 'The Place to BEE' was a hit. People spread the word!

How was the contact with the host?
Very nice! Very welcoming!

Our stay with Ellen and Nico was in one word 'fantastic'! A very pleasant, calm hostess and host who did everything to make us feel right at home. After a hot cycling day we could use their own shower. After this, choose a spot in their beautiful garden to enjoy the sunset at the fire bowl after the bbq. In the morning we could enjoy a delicious breakfast with homemade jams and honey. Tips are superfluous... It is clear that Ellen and Nico themselves have enough ideas to make it a top location and oasis of peace in the middle of nature in the future. We certainly hope to come back here again! Camping under the apple trees, perfect breakfast with homemade jam and apple juice, a lovely cat, pony and goat at your fingertips and a beautiful setting sun. Ellen and Nico are very hospitable and relaxed. We were there on a work trip, but can also recommend this place for a vacation.

Our initial holiday plans got cancelled due to the rise of COVID-19, so we decided to stay within Belgium using Campspace.

That’s how we ended up in the beautiful garden of Ellen & Nico.

We received a very warm welcome, and during our complete stay (4days) there wasn’t anything we couldn’t ask.

We ordered the breakfast daily, which was delicious and consisted homegrown products. And we finished every evening with a bonfire, which they also provide.

We are definitely going back ASAP!
