Tent
Welcome to my micro camping in the beautiful and naturally landscaped orchard in the northern part of Heidelberg-Handschuhsheim. The Campspace is situated in Heidelberg close to the Odenwald.
The spacious campspace offers plenty of freedom and privacy. Car parking is about 500m away. Heidelberg city center is easily accessible and also supermarkets are close by. Yet, the space still feels like wilderness, surrounded by flowers and old cherry, apple and walnut trees. The walnut tree is even made for climbing.
You can spot lots of birds and bees and boars and badgers live in the surrounding forest. You are allowed to use some wood for a campfire and eat as many of the ripe cherries as you want. You can use the rainwater tank with a tap to clean yourself or dishes.
You will camp on a pet-friendly pitch on flat concrete made for tents-only. There is a small stone space with a little roof, bench and table which is the ideal spot for a glass of wine later in the evening. Enjoy this beautiful spot perfect to explore the old city of Heidelberg and spend some relaxed nature at the same time!
My special tip for you: Visit the practically unknown hermit's cave about 500 m away. There also is a nice garden restaurant "Wild and Wine" about 500 m away.
PS Please take care, this is a piece of nature. Staying and walking on the property is at your own risk, all liabilities excluded.

Beautiful place in a blooming garden. We were lucky that the plum tree already had ripe fruits, which we were allowed to snack on! :)
How was the contact with the host?
Good! Quick response, thinks along, provides drinking water.
Tips for new guests?
Walking in the forest on the Heiligenberg (3 km away), from there you have a beautiful view over the oldest part of Heidelberg. There are beautiful viewpoints with benches and also a tower (remainder of a monastery).
We bought delicious sandwiches for breakfast and lunch at Familiebakkerij Grimminger (about 1 km away). It is also possible to eat the sandwiches there.

Many thanks for your nice review. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay and the surroundings.
Perhaps you would like to come back in spring when the cherries are ripe?
All the best, Andreas

A nice place with several places to set up a tent or stretch the tarp. Despite the rain, it was a great evening and in the morning badgers were out and about nearby.
How was the contact with the host?
Fast and friendly contact and a very nice host

Hi Stefan, I'm glad you liked it. And thank you very much for the nice review - then I was right about the badgers; nice that they are still there; I haven't seen any in a long time.
Many greetings, also to your friend (whose name I unfortunately do not have with me at the moment) and I look forward to seeing you again; maybe in the spring, it's also very nice there

The camping site was beautiful: very spacious and filled with flowers and plants. The little shed was also convenient to lay our luggage in when it rained.
How was the contact with the host?

It was a beautiful experience in nature. We had fun looking for the wild mint, climbing the apple tree, making a small fire and enjoying the view over the city. It was a nice adventure for big and small. :)
How was the contact with the host?
Very uncomplicated, fast and friendly! Andreas and his girlfriend helped us carry things and showed us around the garden. They also responded to our wishes and gave us a lot of tips.
Tips for new guests?
It's about a 500m walk from the meeting point to the square, so it's better to take the more compact equipment with you if you have any. But Andreas and his girlfriend are also there to help.

Great place, especially the view of the Palatinate Forest from the chestnut tree bank is terrific. It is cooler there than at the campsite and there was a very pleasant breeze.
It is also very nice that the place is not visible from the path and is therefore very undisturbed.
At night it was quiet and quite warm due to the weather.
A real gem, pure relaxation.
It doesn't always have to be far away, I'm from near Heidelberg.
How was the contact with the host?
Very uncomplicated and friendly host. Unfortunately, he was prevented from arriving. Provided all important information in advance and had full trust in me 👍.
Tips for new guests?
A slightly larger tarpaulin to shade the campsite in the current weather conditions is helpful. There is no shade until around 7 p.m.
Take enough drinking water with you, that's not a mistake.
Within walking distance there is an organic market, REWE, DM and Aldi. A small folding table does no harm, chairs are available.

Hello Gerhard, thank you very much for your nice and detailed review, which made me very happy. Yes you are right, some extra sun protection would be good.
Best regards and next time we will get to know each other personally.

Great experience. A green garden paradise with a sunset view on the city. Far enough to feel like you're in the outdoors.
The plateau was perfect for sitting, having dinner, a drink and a campfire (in a provided pit)
How was the contact with the host?
Kind and punctual
Very attentive and good in several languages
Tips for new guests?
Heidelberg castle is not far and it's really nice to visit.
The host will tell you the practical things that come with the 'wild camping' aspects. No need to worry if it's your first time

We spent two nights at Andreas' camp space. The garden is beautiful and filled with plants, fruits and flowers. We got along well with the bees, and there was a badger that kept us company although we sadly never got to see her. We were given a 10L tank with drinking water as well as some welcome gifts to snack. There was a nice shovel. The stone part with a little roof, bench and table was ideal for some wine later in the evening. We also heard a boar in the night. All in all we had a nice adventure.
How was the contact with the host?
We were welcomed very nicely by Andreas who helped us move our stuff from the car to the place. He showed us around the garden and we had a nice chat, so we felt very welcome. Messaging through Campspace went quick, and the fact we arrived a bit later was no problem.
Tips for new guests?
Our tent did not fully fit on the flat concrete place, so we had to pitch it in the grass which caused us to lay a bit on a slope. This wasn't the most comfortable thing, but it was a fun experience.

We had a very nice time in Andrea's flowery garden. It is a large plot of land on a hillside with many fruit trees and great flowers. There is no running water - but we got a 10 liter canister with drinking water and got along well. Also that there was no toilet didn't bother us.
How was the contact with the host?
Very nice and pleasant. We always got a quick response and felt very welcome

Our host Andreas welcomed us, showed us around the garden and we had a nice and interesting chat. The Campspace is situated at the border of the Odenwald in Heidelberg. It is easily accessibly by public transport and supermarkets are close by but the space still felt like wilderness to us. We were surrounded by flowers and old trees, like a cherry tree, an apple tree or a walnut tree (that is made for climbing). You can spot lots of birds and bees and boars and badgers live in the surrounding forest. We were allowed to use some wood for a campfire and eat as many of the ripe cherries as we could (which we gladly did!). There are no facilities around but a rainwater tank with a tap that you can use to clean yourself or dishes. All in all a beautiful spot perfect to explore the old city of Heidelberg and enjoy some nature at the same time!

Hi Andreas, it was very nice to stay in your garden last weekend! We made a fire, picked apples and plums from the tree and even saw a boar in the neigbours garden! Thank you very much for hosting us. And Heidelberg was nice too, we walked over the Mountain to the old city. See you! Joren and Irene

We had a fantastic stay at the Campspace site "Open Air Cherry Tree" in Heidelberg. Our host Andreas welcomed us at a predefined point and accompanied us to the site. He showed us around and made us feel very welcome. It is a beautiful site, exactly as in the picture with many fruit trees and flowers. A gem in a city!! We would love to come again.
