About this campspace

The camping spot is on a half-hectare meadow with four sheep: Pietje, Wally, Chrisje and Rolf.
Children are welcome from 14 years and older!
On the meadow there is a hut with a nice bed and part of it is a stable. There is also a toilet, which you have to flush manually; nice and basic. I provide 40 liters of fresh water for the guests; if it's gone, I'll bring more. There is no electricity, but there is lighting on batteries/solar cells. There is a basket with walking/cycling routes, plates, mugs, tea towels and a table lamp. There are cutlery and firelighters in the drawer. There are glasses in the cupboard and there is a camping pan. There is no gas stove; you can of course bring that yourself. You can cook on the BBQ. So you only need to bring your own sleeping bag.
There is also a frog pond on the meadow and via a footbridge you enter a piece of forest. People call it paradise. It is on the edge of Haaren; 2 km from the beautiful town of Oisterwijk and 3 km from the national park "Loonse en Drunense dunes". But staying at the campspace with the sheep and daydreaming is also possible.

Very special parent-child activity if you both like back to basics! Very nice place and nice environment. It was three wonderful days. In addition to the funny and sweet behavior of the sheep, we loved being able to set many fires.
You can only smell the sharp sheep smell at home, at least during the stay we had no problems with it at all, with 24/7 air conditioning in the cabin ;) The bed slept well and for the rest all essentials were present, even with tasty extras .

How was the contact with the host?
A very warm welcome, a daily quick meeting in the morning when Frank brought tea and coffee and short lines via WhatsApp, in case something happens or is needed.

Tips for new guests?
Bring a gas burner if you want to cook something yourself, besides barbecuing.

Upon arrival, it's like stepping into a fairy tale. The environment, the shed and the sheep; everything is just right.
Enjoyed the campfire in the evening, the sheep then lie down at a safe distance. We had a small gas burner to cook on, this was just a bit easier and faster than the stove in the shed. Everything else is great!

How was the contact with the host?
Frank is a nice and easy man to deal with and does not beat around the bush. Delicious!
Good host who really gives you the feeling that everything is well organized and you don't have to think about anything anymore. Frank wants 100% to make sure you had a good time!

Tips for new guests?
The sheep can make a lot of noise at night, for example ruminating. There are earplugs, so put them ready to be sure so you don't have to go out if you are bothered by the noise.

Slept with the sheep! It was not yet cold for this time of year (Oct) so I slept in the hammock instead of the house. In the morning I could see the sun rise and the fog banks disappear. It is really a private place, if you want you don't have to meet anyone during your stay. I did take a nice walk to Oisterwijk, definitely recommended.

How was the contact with the host?
Had very nice contact with Frank, he immediately sent a nice picture of the sheep and how I could find the place. Everything was neatly ready and he quickly came by to give a short tour and instructions.

Tips for new guests?
The second night I wanted to try to sleep in the house but because the sheep started licking the lick I couldn't fall asleep anymore so I moved back to the hammock. I do believe ear plugs were provided, but if you are a light sleeper I can imagine that would bother you.

Frank and his four four-legged friends make your stay a true adventure. The barn is located in a beautiful Brabant nature reserve and equipped with all tools (plates, cutlery, fleece blankets, a fire pit with wood, etc.). Frank is a good friendly host, who provides a welcome drink, fresh coffee in the morning and can tell you everything about the area and his sheep. Place in nature, and the only sounds you hear at night are from the sheep. That's great though. Waking up and seeing a sheep next to you from your bed is off the bucket list! We would like to visit again when the weather is nicer. But even on a rainy day there is plenty to see in the area. Thanks for everything!

Spent a night with my daughter in the stable with Frank's four sheep. What a beautiful experience. Truly an adventure. We immediately felt welcome when the sheep happily ran towards us and there was a sign with our names. There was even a basket with nuts and something to drink ready for us.
I don't think there are any cuter sheep than these 4 cuties. You can pet and cuddle them and when we left they came to wave us goodbye. During your stay, the country really does seem like your own paradise. We will take this experience with us forever as a wonderful memory. Thank you!!

How was the contact with the host?
The contact is very good. Frank sends messages before you come and you can easily ask questions. As soon as you are there, he will come by to meet you and explain everything. It wouldn't even be necessary to explain that, because he has put everything well on paper. He also takes good care of the guests. And so nice to see on the sign that you are welcome. Frank was a super host! What a nice field with sheep he has to spend the night. The name 'small paradise' is more than justified. Frank has built a beautiful cabin with all amenities such as a toilet, plates, cutlery, glasses, stove, clean water, etc.
My brother and I camped overnight in the winter and because we could heat up the hut it was no problem. This allowed us to play games on the bed warm inside and fall asleep in a heated cabin in the evening. Together with our warm sleeping bags and the coziness of the sheep at night, it was not cold at all. Frank was also very caring and brought us hot water, coffee and a pitcher. So I can definitely recommend spending the night in the cabin in December!
We thought it was a beautiful place and would like to come back again.

What a lovely spot this is! Easy to reach and yet completely in nature... The sheep love company and provide life and animation... The frogs in the pool provide background music 🙂.
Frank is a very warm and relaxed man, who gave us a warm welcome. The beers and scrubber were cold when we arrived. The sheep hut is basic, but very practical and cosily furnished and equipped with a real bed (with a good mattress and enough extra blankets). We enjoyed a campfire and roasted marshmallows 😋. You can also enjoy nice walks in the area (the nature reserve at the Nemerlaer estate nearby is highly recommended).
We would love to come back!

Tell us about your experience
Frank’s campspace is an exciting and unique experience right in the middle of civilization. Very close to the city of Haaren and all modern facilities like supermarkets, is a tiny paradise set far back from the road, with nothing but trees, fields, ponies and sheep around you. An ideal campspace for those who want to disconnect and search for a real “wild” experience: including 4 fluffy, curious sheep exploring your tent and you, an outdoor toilet with a great view (!), a firepit for roasting marshmallows and enjoying winter nights, and a beautiful tent pitch in the middle of a “tiny” forest with its own magic pond filled with excited frogs. The sense of privacy and connection with nature is very high. Frank is a wonderful, proactive and thoughtful host - constantly keeping in touch with us to make sure we have all the directions, tips and info we need. We were touched by his small touches like welcoming us with a full bottle of “kruidenbitter”, beers, hot soup and snacks, and even dropping by next morning with fresh, hot coffee! It was clear that he values his guests and is very glad to share his tiny meadow and his friendly sheep with them. Overall, a very unique experience! Totally recommended.

Playing outside, listening to the birds, cuddling with the sheep. It can be that nice and simple sometimes. Light a fire for some warmth. Hang out on the couch and watch the activities around the nesting box of the tits. Beer, cooking, watching the sun go down... And then crawl into that cozy nest, the smell of hay, the cry of owls help me to sleep. The next day to be woken up by 4 curious (hungry) faces of Pietje, Wally, Chrisje and Rolf.

There is so much love in this piece of land. Everything from the welcome to the cuddle addicted sheep exude warmth. Even in the fall!

What a wonderful, natural, calming, inspiring place! roomy.
The welcome with the sheep: fantastic. As well as all the other moments when they came to ask for attention.
We slept wonderfully and we literally only had to count 4 sheep to fall asleep.
You have turned it into a real paradise that also makes you realize where happiness really lies.
Thank you for the great hospitality and reception. We will certainly advertise across the border in Belgium. Because I'm sure many here can enjoy at least as much as we do.
Top!"

"We had a very nice weekend on Frank's campspace. It was basic as described, but had everything necessary: Frank brought fresh water in the beginning (for cat-showers, washing dishes, etc.) and there was a rainwater-barrel for the toilet, which both is on the backside of the hut, reachable from the outside); there were some glasses, plates, some cutlery, candles, solar/battery lanterns in the hut and mobile ones, a BBQ which could be used as fireplace as well and also a table and seats outside. So a sleeping bag is basically all you need. The hut has a bed, and a bit of space for the backpack and stuff, but all a bit narrow since the entrance part is there for the sheep.

Frank is very welcoming, introduced us to the space and the sheep, helped to find the way to Oisterwijk or the Loonse and Drunense dunes, also brought us some tea and coffee after the first night, and in general was reachable all the time via phone/whatsapp.

The sheeps were awesome, herding around the meadow all day doing there thing, sometimes came to get petted, and always in the morning and evening to get there food, And when it rains they also came into the hut during the night. I can recommend it, especially when you want to get out for a weekend"

We were the first campspace visitors at franks place.it was great that we could come very last minute.. what a great warm and friendly welcome with even coffee in the morning and a drink at night! be aware, it is so awesome that it might become a hotspot for campspacers! We will tell everyone for sure 😉 how lovely to wake up in the morning by the birds and the sheep hanging around our tent. We fell in love with the four sheep who can run like the wind when they hear the sound of their food. Thank you so much for this adventure frank! Love, Joris and Karin

Hi Frank and everyone!

We are now sheltering in the house with the sheep because it is raining.
Never knew that "hiding" can also be fun. And we have been able to feel that cosiness here every day. A drink at the pool, feeding the sheep, a BBQ at dusk, Frank who came by to bring coffee/tea. They are all things that we have enjoyed immensely. To say it the Belgian way: “It was really good!”

We found the campsite wonderful. The location was untouched and the experience with the sheep was one of a kind. It is the place to get out of your comfort zone and intake what surrounds you. We find a surprising balance between the location and the comfort.

Frank was a lovely host, very caring and attentive to demands. Would recommend this magical field to anyone looking for a great romantic gateway.

Special 'back to nature' weekend spent with 4 sweet sheep. We were warmly welcomed with a drink and were given a tour and explanation about the hut and sheep. There is no shower or tap, but we got plenty of fresh water to drink and cool down, because it was a very hot weekend (35 degrees). In addition to sleeping in the hut, it is also possible to set up a tent, there was another couple who camped at the frog pond. Owner is very friendly and has created a small natural paradise, you really spend the night in a green cocoon. Nice rural area too, Oisterwijk is nice to have something to eat. We hope that future visitors respect the rules and place and are kind to the sheep, because this place is clearly made with love!

Went on an adventure in this sheepfold with my son. Very primitive, but we knew that in advance. Despite the good ventilation in the cabin, we were not cold at night (it was even freezing and there is no heater) In the morning it was very cold. There was a layer of ice on the water in the water bowl (there is no tap water) The old-fashioned wood stove (that round vertical thing in the photo) does give some heat, but when it is that cold, you can only stay under the covers . Fortunately we had two duvets with us.
4 stars purely for the experience. Because this is such an adventure that stays with a child. After all, you will soon forget such an average hotel room.
Super nice and quiet location at about 200m. walk from the road next to the toad pool with a view of nature and over the meadows. Next time we would like to come again when it is a bit warmer, so that we can also enjoy the outside seating, the view and the fire pit.

How was the contact with the host?
Frank is super nice, was ready for us, explained everything well and we even had a drink. He doesn't live next door, but close by which is nice.

Tips for new guests?
Good shoes or boots, you walk on the path of the sheep through the meadows to the stable. Take some extra wood with you, which is small enough to fit in the stove (cubes or branches with a diameter of approx. 5 cm and a length of approx. 10 to 15 cm fit well. Thicker than 6 or 7 cm will not fit through the opening in the stove ) Be handy with lighting stoves, because if 1 with an opening on top, smokes a bit when lighting and placing blocks on it. For possible cooking: take a camping gas stove with you. It is best to bring a flashlight, there is no electricity. It is best to also take drinking water with you, then you do not have to take it from the water bowl outside.

The 4 sheep were really used to people and could also sleep outside if they were too noisy for us - cause they were ruminating all night long. As you can expect from sleeping in a stable with sheep, it will be a little dirty. So be prepared for that!

The garden around the stable was big, and crowded with bushes, threes and there were enough places to chill: sofas, hammocks and relaxing chairs. Would gladly visit this paradise again!

How was the contact with the host?
Frank is an amazing host. Super sweet and welcoming. He had some welcoming gifts for us and a guestbook where we could write a message for him and the sheep when we left.

Tips for new guests?
Bring some earplugs for the sheep noises at night

We had a wonderful night among the sheep. What a peace there is here. The sheep are sweet and always came to visit us for a cuddle.
The stable is very nicely furnished and equipped with everything we needed. There was also a lot of information about the area and we were very kindly received by Frank.

How was the contact with the host?
Fine, Frank can be reached via whatsapp and usually answers very quickly. He also stopped by when we arrived for an extensive explanation.

Tips for new guests?
Because of the good weather we didn't have long pants with us, but it would have been nice because of the nettles that grow abundantly on the site.

The Loonse and Drunense dunes are a short distance away. Great for a long walk or a photo shoot at sunset.

It was fantastic to stay with the very nice, cuddly sheep with propeller wagging tails, the frogs, the beautiful dragonflies, the sparrow hawks, long-tailed tits, the green woodpecker, the lovely wild land, the welcome drink, super coffee from Frank in the morning, buckets full of ice (which were really necessary due to the heat wave) and the chairs from which we could observe everything relaxed. The spot of the tent is in the shade for a large part of the day. Throwing water over your body with a pan, a wonderful way to wash yourself  We found Frank a very nice and genuine host!
